Week of 10.3-10.7
This week in orchestra students have continued to work on positions, bow hold, note reading, and producing good sounds on their instruments. All classes have started work on putting the bow on the string and pulling straight bows. We have been working very hard for our first concert that is quickly approaching on October 17th!
If you see your student practicing with the bow, make sure that they are placing the bow right in between the bridge and the fingerboard and pulling parallel to the string. Their bow holds should be relaxed.
Cookie Dough Forms and Money are due on Tuesday, October 11th!!

Main Event Social--TOMORROW!!!
Friday, Oct. 7th, 5:30-8:30pm

Friday is our Main Event social!! Yay!! (Remember, this is for students who have already paid their fee for Main Event - if your child is not attending, please disregard)
Please drop your children off at Main Event Plano (3941 Central Expressway, Plano, 75023) at 5:30 p.m. They will need to check in with Mr. Sloan, Mrs. Gearhart, Ms. Coad, or Mrs. Winkler at the entrance upon arrival to receive their $10 Fun Pass.
Please pick your child up at the front entrance of Main Event at 8:30 p.m. Parents are required to sign out their students with Mr. Sloan, Mrs. Gearhart, Ms. Coad, Mrs. Winkler or one of our parent chaperones before they leave, so that we know everyone has a ride safely. Please be prompt. We appreciate the courtesy of picking up your child on time; your teachers have families too, and time is precious for everyone.
Students will have the opportunity to play arcade games with their Fun Pass, bowl, play laser tag or billiards. Food will be served at the concession stand. When students check in, they will receive tickets to get their food items. Main Event is not able to accommodate special dietary needs; the dinner served is pizza and soft drinks.
Attire is school-appropriate. If possible, please wear a Lovejoy/SCIS spirit shirt to show your school pride! All students should wear athletic shoes and socks.
Students are expected to be on their best behavior. Please remind them that they are representing Lovejoy ISD, Sloan Creek Intermediate School, the orchestra department, and most importantly themselves. We hold our SCIS orchestra students to a very high standard whether on or off campus, and students are expected to act accordingly. Students who cannot adhere to the rules of Lovejoy ISD, SCIS or Main Event will be prohibited from participating in future orchestra social events.
It is your choice to provide your children with additional money to add to their Fun Cards or for extra food. For many students a $10 Fun Card and pizza and soft drinks are sufficient.
As always, thank you for sharing your children with us! We are looking forward to an awesome time at Main Event, and we will represent Lovejoy ISD with pride!

Many of you have already purchased DSO tickets at Registration night. For those of you who would still like to purchase tickets please have students bring an envelope to school with their name on it and make the check out to LOBC (Lovejoy Orchestra Booster Club) – pricing below.
