Sacred Heart School Petone Wednesday 14th December
Principal's Pen
Tena koutou Nga whanau
It’s really hard to believe that we have almost come to the end of another year at Sacred Heart School and another strange year due to Covid! Thank you for support over our COVID journey again this year!
A huge thank you to all of you –parents, grandparents, older siblings and whanau- who have helped us in any way this year. Without your help we would certainly not be able to do all the activities we do. Thanks also to our Board who willingly give hours of their time to support our students. I would like to acknowledge the fantastic staff- both teaching and support- who all go the extra mile for the children and ensure that the learning at Sacred Heart is wonderful, challenging and exciting. Thanks also to our FOSH group for all their hard work this year.
At this time of year we say goodbye to our Year 8 students. We thank them for everything they have done for the school community over their time at Sacred Heart and we wish them all the best for the future.
This year we are also farewelling the Devine, Tatafu, Ting, Fereti, Criscillo, Lysaght, Marsden, So'otaga, Ladrera, Fairfield and Griffiths families, some of them after a long association with the school. We thank them for their contributions to the school over their time here.
We are also saying good bye and thank you to Julia Havell, Clare Lewis and Maree Mahony from the staff. We will farewell them all at Assembly tomorrow in the church at 11am. We will also farewell Maria Devine, Toutai Vaka and Rosalyn Ting and we wish them well at their new schools.
Reminders:
· School closes at 12.50pm tomorrow Thursday 15th December. Please ensure your children are collected at this time.
· There will be a final Assembly at 11am, after which children will return to their classrooms and be dismissed at 12.50pm.
We have much to be proud of and grateful for at Sacred Heart School and we can only continue to build on everything that has gone before us. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year and look forward to seeing you all back at school on the 1st February, 2023.

We would love you to join us for our Family Christmas Mass on Christmas
morning @ 9.30am. We will sing some Christmas carols during Mass and a special Christmas picture book will be shared for the young and young at heart!
All children are encouraged to dress up in Nativity character costumes (Mary, Joseph, angels, shepherds, wise men etc). If you would like to borrow an outfit – come to the little chapel side- room between 9.00-9.15am. Please return the outfit before you go home!
At the offertory, The Little Drummer Boy song will be sung and we need some children to play the drums. Please let us know when you arrive at Mass, if your child would like to be a ‘drummer’ (You are welcome to bring a drum from home.)
We look forward to seeing you.
Wishing you all a peace, hope and love filled Christmas.
