  • Evaluate how authors are strategic in creating meaning with more elements and more complex text.
  • Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity

One of our Protagonist- Kate Weatherall

One of the Protagonists in The Mysterious Benedict Society is Kate Weatherall. She is one of of the leading or main characters. Even though the story is told from Reynie's perspective when Kate is in the story when makes a big contribution. Kate is a genius at solving physical problems. She can do anything if they are needed.

Kate is a round character because the author tells you all about how she looks, acts, and what she thinks. Evidence from the text is in the chapter Bucket and Spectacles Reyna meets Kate and learns much about her through conversations and further experiences.

Direct or Indirect?

I think that Kate developed indirectly. The author tells you what the children learn about her but did not tell you that she was brave and outgoing, you learn that from seeing her do things that could not seem possible and how she loves to talk.

Kate is to braveness as Mr. Benedict is to genius

Kate is to shy as Constance is to outgoing

Kate is to athletic as Reynie is to smart

Kate is to tall as Constance is to short

Kate is to slow as Sticky is to dumb

Kate is to stamina as Reynie is to clever
