From the Classroom of Ms. Newsom
About Ms. Newsom
It is important for you and your child to know the expectations of the classroom prior to the start of the school year. Here are some of the expectations I have for your student:
Walk into the classroom with a ready-to-learn attitude!
Respect the ideas, feelings, and materials of others
Explore and share ideas
Here is a list of what your child will need to bring on the first day of school:
Bookbag (no wheels)
2 boxes of baby wipes
2 boxes of tissues
1 bottle of hand saniztizer
1 pack of construction paper
24 Box of crayons
Pencil supply box
Glue (bottle or stick)
2 Large Erasers
Change of clothes in a gallon sized ziplock w/ name
Homework will be sent home in a packet every Friday. Students must return the completed packet the following Friday (one week later). In addition, there will be reading assignments every night of the week and one spelling list per week.
If a student is absent on the Friday a homework packet is given, they will receive the packet on the day they return and will be expected to complete it one week from the day they received the homework.
Over the course of the year your student will learn more about adding and subtracting, regrouping, place value, skip counting, and more! They will also learn to write narratives and informative/expository writings. They will do science investigations on plants and animals, and learn about their community.

I believe it is essential to keep in close contact with my classroom parents and families throughout the year. For this reason, I have included all of my personal contact information for you to contact me at any time with your questions or concerns.
