CROSS COUNTRY- COACH WHITLOCK'S MEET REPORTS -
Cornwall XC Meet
The home meet was a triumph over adversity as illness or injury hit a number of team members. We welcomed the return of two runners who exceeded our expectations. In the Boys race William paced our team with a strong 10:11 placing 22nd out of a larger field of 66 . Stanislav Mahler returned with a personal best over last year's performance, improving 3 minutes with a time of 12:11. The only disappointment we experienced was for Parker G. who had to pull out from the race with an injury. We are hoping he can recover quickly as Jack G. will be returning sooner than expected.
The girls ran as a full team with the return of Sienna S. and placed third out of eight teams. Adelle O. again led the team with an eighth place finish with a time of 10:00 flat. The higher placement (13th,14th and 15th) by Kasia K., Marin L. and Sienna S. respectively powered our team placement as they worked as a team throughout the race. Alexandra B. finished with a respectable time of 12:15, placing her 58th in a field of 98 runners. As coaches we know our best performances are ahead if we stay at our progression into speed work these coming weeks.

Nooksack Meet
We've reached the halfway point in our season at the Nooksack meet and have seen solid progress from our athletes despite injuries and illnesses that we've weathered. Among the boys Stanislav M continues to lower his time significantly with 11:18 this meet while holding his position in the field of 69 runners. William H continues to pace the boys efforts holding his position in the top 20 runners at 19th this meet almost matching his PR but his time on a full 1.5 mile course at 9:29. Parker G welcomed back his teammate Jack G, running a PR of 10:23 while Jack returned with a Season's best of 10:21. Both held their relative positions in the field.
The girls race produced another third place finish for the girls team out of the nine teams competing. Adelle O reclaimed her sixth place position in the increased field of 104 runners with a gutty effort and strong finish. Both Kasia K and Marin L cracked the 10:00 barrier, 9:53 and 9:54 respectively. This moved both into the top of the field at 9th and 11th places. They worked together both in practice and the race to see such gains. Our 6th grade girls continue to show they belong with Sienna S contributing a 29th placement and another sub 11:00 time and Alexandra B placing 54th with a PR of 11:43.
With three meets left we hope to stay healthy and post our best times as we work on speed and efficiency on the mileage base they built in the first 5 weeks.

GET TO KNOW OUR STAFF:
Stephanie Fox - Physical Education Specialist
I was born in Abbotsford, British Columbia and grew up gathering eggs and driving tractors on my Parents Chicken and Raspberry farm. I always had cousins around and the importance and value of family was a key influence in my early years.
I was very active in sports and played on many different teams growing up, but my favorite became Basketball. I attended Trinity Western University on a Basketball scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a minor in Music. I completed my teaching degree at Central Washington University after having moved to the US with my family.
After meeting my husband, we moved to Chewelah, WA where we spent 10 years starting our family and working as Youth Pastors at a small community church. It was there that I found a love for leading music at church and had a lot of opportunities to sing and lead congregations in Worship. We loved our time on the ‘East Side’ as they say, and when we moved back to the ‘West Side’ we had to adjust to the rain!
In the past few years, we have been Pastors at a church in Ferndale, where I am part of the Worship team. I love getting to see our kids grow up near family and enjoy cousins, much like I did in my early years. My kids also spend their summers working in the Raspberry fields and it is such a joy to get to see the tradition passed down from generation to generation.
It was 3 years ago, during the pandemic, that I began my time at Franklin Academy and it has been an absolute privilege. I feel completely blessed to be the PE teacher here and I love getting to experience our students and Staff! We really have a tremendous school!
