One School, One Book

We are very happy that we are able to still celebrating One School, One Book. This week all students in Westwood and Linsdey Elementary Schools will be involved in reading lessons focused on the book wishtree by Katherine Applegate. All students need to join the "West Geauga One School, One Book" Google Classroom using the code: joea37e

Once the student is in the classroom, they click on "classwork" and will find assigments labeled by Day # and date. Once they click on the assignment, they will find a Google Form with the reading video linked as well as reading activities for the day. Once they finish watching the video and completing the Google Form, they simply click "submit".

One activity particularly exciting this year is "Table Talk"; we sincerely hope all families will participating in discussing the daily topics and sharing your thoughts & feelings together.

We hope you enjoy the book as much as we have, and that it brings a bit of joy and hope to the our school families.

This Week's Spirit Day: MAKE A WISH

Getting Student Supplies

Teachers are in the process of bagging up student materials; this process should be completed by the end of May. We will then communicate with parents a schedule as well as process for picking your children's belongings. In addition, the nurse is working on a process for returning all student medication to parents. This process and schedule will also be shared in the near future.

If you have a specific item that you need someone to look for in lost & found, please notifiy me ASAP. Otherwise, all items will donated to charity by the end of May.

If you have library books or items belonging to a classroom teacher, there will be a table available during student supply pick up. Please make sure to label all returned items clearly with the teacher's name.

Westwood Walk Video

For the past several years, Kevin Ruscher, father of Phin, has graciously recorded the Westwood Walk using his drone. On the link below, you will find this year's incredible edition of the Westwood Walk. You will also notice the #60 in celebration of Westwood's 60th birthday. I want to personally extend a big THANK YOU to Mr. Ruscher for taping, editing, and producing this very enjoyable video. I hope it brings a smile to your face and brightens your day as much as it did mine.

Remote Learning and School Pictures Needed for Yearbook

Due to remote learning, Mr. Reich is in need of pictures from family members of students involved in school at home; he would also appreciate random pictures of students that families have from various school events as well as outside activities. All families have to do is click the appropriate link below (listed according to homeroom teacher) and then either drag or select the photos you like and they will be put into that specific gallery. Nothing can get into the book without Mr. Reich's approval and selection and he is the only one that can see pictures once they are uploaded.

Mrs. Nanney's Google Classroom

All students (and siblings as well) are invited to join Mrs. Nanney's Google Classroom. Currently, she is reading two books, Maniac Magee and Flora & Ulysses to students, as well as short stories occassionally. In the near future, she will begin a new book, Because of Winn Dixie. If students wish to join, the code is qlqegw3
