The Giver Summary
It all started, Jonas and his friends are going to pass level 12 and get their official assignments. Jonas gets assigned to be a receiver of memory. As time passes by Jonas realizes what really goes on in the community, and starts seeing colors which isn't common. Gabe is being released, and Jonas and the giver are planning for Jonas to escape to elsewhere for a better life for Gabe.
Jonas (The Reciever)
Jonas is a kind-hearted person and always follows the rules unless if he has too. Jonas is kind enough to save Gabe's life and take him with him on his journey. Jonas is also cautious what his actions cause to others. Jonas journey took him back to a memory giver game him.
The challenges Jonas faces are....
- Getting his first painful memory
- Running away from the community
- Getting adjusted to his new life after level 12
Gabe, Asher, and the Giver
Gabe
Gabe was placed in Jonas home, and the nuturing center decided to release him. Jonas did not want that so he took Gabe with him when he ran away.
Asher
Asher is one of Jonas's best friend. After the ceremony they have become distant because of the new assignments.
The Giver
The giver helps Jonas to become the new reciever by giving him advice. The giver gives memories to Jonas some were painful and some were full of joy. The giver also helps Jonas escape.
“We gained control of many things. But we had to let go of others.”

Rating
I liked the Giver because it gave a point of view of how someone lives under strict rules. Its not like reading a book how people live in the real world. On a scale 1-10, I give this book an 8. Although, I did dislike how it was a cliffhanger at the end of the story.
