Assessment Memo
September 9th, 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians,
During the week of September 12th, scholars in grades K-5 will take a MAP Fluency assessment and all scholars will take a MAP Growth assessment for reading and math from NWEA. All assessments will be administered in homeroom classrooms on a PACE student Chromebook.
MAP assessments are unique, and it adapts to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.
Since MAP Assessments provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify scholars with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly. At PACE we will use this information to inform instruction in the following ways.

Parent and Guardian Tips to Support Testing
1. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before the test.
2. On the morning of the test, your child needs to get up in plenty of time so he/she won't feel rushed.
3. Feed your child a good breakfast. Research shows that children do better on tests if they have had a good breakfast.
4. Do as much as you can to make your child feel comfortable. Try not to say things to make him/her feel more nervous.
5. Reassure your child that no matter the outcome of the test you will still love him/her. Encourage them to simply do their best.
