Academics
We are learning about story elements and working on comparing and contrasting characters, setting, and plot. We will also be focusing on main ideas and summarizing.
Writer's Workshop
We are working on narrative writing. Our focus is on infusing our voice and showing our readers what is happening instead of telling them. We will be working diligently through the entire writing process - planning, drafting, conferencing, revising and editing!
Math
In math we are wrapping up our first unit soon. The students have been introduced to the traditional methods of multiplication and will soon be introduced to traditional division. We will start working with volume of rectangular prisms and irregular shapes at the end of the quarter.
Social Studies
Tomorrow we will be starting our first social studies unit. The students will be learning about a Native American group and teaching the rest of the class about their findings. They will then be researching an explorer and seeing how the explorer interacted with the natives.
Extras
Our fall party will be in the afternoon on October 27th. If you would like to donate an item for our party please sign up here: CAFE Fall Party Sign-up.
Riveredge Field Trip
Thank you to all our chaperones for coming along to help on our trip. Be sure to go to the website to check out all the pictures of the trip!
Auction Items
Our first auction was a great success and the kids had so much fun! We would be more than happy to accept donations of items (new or gently used) at anytime for our next auction! Small toys, packaged treats, puzzles, books, etc. all make great auction items!
Thursday Folders
Please make sure you check your child's take home folders on Thursdays and empty out all returned work. Important flyers and information is also sent home on Thursdays!
