Friday Message from Dr. Glaze
The official start to our new school year is Thursday, August 11 and I am looking forward to the chatter and activity as our campus comes to life with the enthusiasm and energy of our students and staff. I’m excited about the unlimited opportunities for exploration and growth that is an integral part of our students’ academic journey at TCSC.
Our job is to help create and inspire well-rounded, motivated students who will go out into the world to make a positive impact which our educators, administrators, and staff do with great dedication and passion. We strive to grow empowered, future-ready students, prepared for a lifetime of opportunity and success. We care deeply about the whole child, and we value each one of our Blue Devils. Thank you for choosing TCSC and entrusting us with the care and education of your child.
In terms of staffing, we have brought on new talent, shifted a handful of current personnel to different positions, and continue to seek out qualified, competent, and energized professionals who are a good fit for our corporation and community. We have learned that lives can be changed, and possibilities become endless when we have the right person in the right position. We are thinking outside the box in terms of hiring, employee engagement, development, support, and retention. We look forward to introducing the newest members of the corporation in the weeks ahead. While we continue to face a few challenges in this arena, we appreciate your patience during the process of filling a few remaining openings.
I would like to give a shout out to our educators, staff, and community sponsors for making this year’s Summer Academy the best one yet. This two-day professional development event helps foster a community of practice where our staff can teach and learn from one another through the exchange of information, new tools, strategies, and activities. It provides the opportunity to grow as professionals and become leaders in their field while helping to improve student outcomes. It was personally inspiring to see the passion and interest of our staff working to kick up their game to learn, support each other, and become more effective and successful in their roles.
As a reminder, there are a number of activities taking place prior to the first day of school that are a valuable part of getting your student off to a strong start. Sixth grade orientation (TMS Rocks) is Monday, August 8 along with the 6th grade parent meeting beginning at 6 p.m. that evening. Teachers will be spending the day in their classrooms on Tuesday, August 9 look forward to Meet the Teacher Night for students later that afternoon: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for PreK through grade 5 and from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for students in grades 6 through 12. Tuesday is also the Blue Devil Kick Off (BDKO) for the Class of 2026 from 9 a.m. to noon. This one-day orientation is filled with fun activities aimed to help incoming freshman learn first-hand about Tipton High School and how to get the most out of their high school experience. Register here today!
Wednesday, August 10 is a Professional Development Day for our educators. There are no students present and no eLearning this day. Speaking of Wednesday, Tipton Elementary School is doing something cool to help families save money on their back-to-school preparations and ready their child for the first day of school - a free haircut! The Free Back to School Haircut Night, for TCSC registered students, takes place on Wednesday, August 10 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Community Room at TES. A good cut is a great way to kick off the school year with confidence!
Finally, while we are making progress, the high school student parking lot area is still under construction, so we will continue to use the temporary lot for parking and the entry and exit process from the spring. Plan accordingly allowing a little more time for drop off and pick up. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
As we look ahead to the 2022-2023 school year, we are committed to providing our students with the best educational experience while preparing them for the future in partnership with our families and community. See you back on campus next week for the start of what I expect to be another remarkable year! #BlueFuture
