ROE Kindergarten - Week Sept. 9-13
A New Journey Begins!
Kindergarten sigh words
The list of sight words that were sent home a week ago are the words that we will be learning all throughout the year. Our first sight club is the "RED CLUB". We are learning these words at school too. We will be adding 3 new words a week throughout the year. Please take a few minutes a day to just flash these words with your child so that they get a little more practice at home. Also, taking 15 minutes a night to read to your child is a wonderful routine for them and for you. They need to see us reading and modeling how to read. We will start sending home nightly readers soon. This will get you into the groove of reading every night!
Focus this week
ELAR -We will identify and matching the common sounds that letters represent, recognize the difference between a letter and a printed word, identify all upper and lower letters
Math-We will begin composing and decomposing numbers to 5 using manipulatives and continue working on subitizing. We will also be reciting numbers up to 30.
Science - We will use our sense of hearing and smell to observe the world around us.
Social Studies- We will learn the importance of Patriot's Day. We will continue to learn what it means to be a good citizen in our community, home and school.
Check out this video of subitizing...watch it with your child!

Birthdays at school
We love to honor your child on their special day! We know it means so much to them to share it with their friends. Here are some things you need to know before this day comes.
- Any food treats need to be "store bought". No homemade cupcakes/cookies.
- Our eating of these treats will not happen until the very end of the day. We try to have them close to 2:15PM. If you will please drop off any food items before noon. This way we have time to get them down to our room and know that we will be having additional food items for snack time.

WE NEED YOU! As our year continues, we will have several opportunities for you to volunteer and be involved in your child's life here at ROE. By setting up for volunteer application, you will be ready to go on field trips, help out during fundraisers, or even come up and help with daily activities that need to be done here at ROE. Please take time to fill out the application now...waiting until it is time for the field trip will a major rush! Be ahead of the game!
