PROPER WAY TO WEAR A MASK
ACADEMIC PURSUIT TEAM
Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade Academic Pursuit team on their first win of the season against New Augusta this week. The 7th grade won 10-5 and the 8th grade won 5-3. Nathaniel Black had three correct answers and Ahnaliegh Apple and Emilee Day both had one. Their next match is Wednesday after Thanksgiving Break.
Coach Lewis and Coach Wright were very pleased with the student's first performance.

BGMS SCHOOL HERO
Christian Garcia is this week's nomination for My School Hero. Christian is so very kind, thoughtful, helpful and a extremely positive student. I get to see Christian every single day and it is truly a highlight. He does his work, never complains, looks on the bright side of things before he thinks things are too hard to do. I am so honored to have Christian as a student. If I were to put onto paper the characteristics that make a student a perfect example, he would check all the boxes. It is a pleasure to know him and I wish so many great things for him and his future. What a wonderful example and peer he is for others.
POETRY CONTEST FINALIST
BGMS would like to brag on behalf of our incredible students. Mr. Thayer and Ms. Harris have at least five students that are finalists in the Indy Public Library's recent poetry competition for students in grades 7-12.

The students will be receiving their awards this Saturday at the Central Library from 12-4 p.m. It is called "Fall Fest 2021 + Slammin' Rhymes Challenge." Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, will be there to speak and to distribute the awards to the students. Everyone is invited to come out and show your support.

Speedway Junior High School, along with Beech Grove Middle School will be holding a Coaches VS Cancer night on December 13, 2021. All players and coaches will be wearing the shirt below this evening and we are inviting all family members and fans to do the same. All proceeds and donations from this evening will go to The Matt English Foundation (Coach English passed away in 2018 from brain cancer).

HELP SALVA BUILD MORE WELLS IN SUDAN
Let’s Raise Money to Help Salva Build More Wells in Sudan
During the week of Monday, November 29th - Friday, December 3rd, we will collect the coins.
How it Works
Pennies = Positive Points
Silver (Nickels, Dimes, & Quarters) = Negative Points
Our goal is to raise over $150 to provide two water pumps for two wells.
Jars will be placed in all of the 8th-grade ELA classes (Mrs. Doyle, Mrs. Eckstein, and Mrs. Stout). The teacher with the lowest total points will videotape herself performing a 10-second dance that will be played for all of the 8th-grade ELA classes to enjoy.

Would you like extra help for classes? Come to after school tutoring every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:55-4:45. We will have a tutor for Math, Language Arts, and General Studies (Science, Social Studies, Related Arts).

There will not be running club practice next week. Happy Thanksgiving! Please try to get signed up for the Jingle Bell run by December 6th! WRESTLING SEASON
Practices will begin after Thanksgiving.
WRESTLING CLUB OPEN TO 5-8TH GRADERS
We are opening up the club to anyone wanting to join the 5th-8th grade middle school wrestling team. Please come to the club practices on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00-7:30 pm at the High school. It will be voluntary practices for anyone wrestling for the middle school team. Thank you for the announcement. We still need students to sign up on Final Forms for wrestling. Any questions please contact me.

CALLING ALL SOUTH GROVE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN WRESTLING
There will be a callout soon with Mr. Zach Harlan at South Grove for 5th and 6th graders. Mr. Zach Harlan is the new Asst. Wrestling Coach and PE teacher at South Grove. Please listen and watch for the posting for South Grove wrestling callouts. Please make sure you have a current physical on file and the final forms on the BGCS website is completed as well.

PRESEASON SWIM PRACTICES
Preseason practices:
Monday- 6:10-7:10 p.m.
Wednesday 5:20-6:20 p.m.
These are from now until December 16
Parent meeting December 8th @ 5:20 at the pool
Physical and final forms registration needs to be on file to attend practices. Practices are not required, but a good opportunity to practice before the season begins and to try out swimming as well.
