Moreno's Message

Superintendent Briefings

June 13, 2017

Dear Parents and Community,

I am excited to introduce to you the Moreno's Message newsletter. The purpose of this new communication platform is to bridge our communication through newsworthy updates from myself and LVISD.

As many of you may have seen the front page of the La Vernia newspaper last week, the Class of 2017 had a successful graduation ceremony. We are so proud of our recent graduates and know that they are prepared to spread their wings as they attend the college or university of their choice, enter the military, or join the workforce. The Class of 2017 was our biggest class yet with 250 graduates! I have spoken with many native La Vernians who remember the days of 25 graduates walking the stage. Our community is growing exponentially. I would also like to mention that our graduates earned over $2.9 million dollars in scholarships! Go Bears!

The District is offering summer fun in our libraries. Our summer reading program theme is “Build a Better World.” All LVISD students and parents are welcome. The program will be held at the Intermediate School on June 13, 20, 27, and July 11th. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.. We hope to see you there!

If you are looking for an opportunity to receive free tennis lessons for your kids, please join us at the LVISD tennis courts. The San Antonio Tennis Association, Inc. will be offering lessons for all age groups starting on June 13th - July 28th, every (Tuesday and Thursday) with 2 sessions from 8:30 -9:30 or 10:00 -11 a.m (kids are welcome to stay for both sessions if they would like). Please activate this link for more information .satennis.com.

There are special called budget workshops scheduled with our board of trustees on June 13, 22, and the 28th at the 500 Building (High School). The meetings are open to the public and will start promptly at 6:00 p.m.. We look forward to seeing you.
