KMIS OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
2021
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Kraft Parents & Guardians:
It is hard to believe we are into October! I hope this finds everyone doing well. I would like to communicate a few important events that are coming up this month at KMIS:
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on
Tuesday, October 26 from 4:00-8:00 PM
Thursday, October 28 from 3:00-7:00 PM
Parents will be able to sign-up for a 15 minute, in person time slot with your child’s homeroom teacher. If it is more convenient with your schedule or if you prefer, parents can sign-up for a time slot to have a phone conversation with your child's homeroom teacher. Please note: Per the KCHD order, individuals are required to wear a mask while inside K-6 educational settings. We understand some individuals are not comfortable with this, therefore, we then encourage you to sign-up for the phone conference.
The electronic sign-up (sign-up genius) form will be emailed out to parents that have multiple children at Kraft on Wednesday, October 13. It will then be emailed out to all of our parents on Friday, October 15. More information on how to sign-up for either an in-person or phone call conference will be sent at that time. We look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you!
PTO Walk-a-Thon Information
Our first annual KMIS “Be Nice” Fun(ds) Run/Walk will take place on Friday, October 29 at the high school football stadium. A “Be Nice” T-Shirt will be provided for each student along with donuts and cider after the walk. Students will be walking in 30-minute intervals for their donations:
5th Grade - On Stadium Track 8:20-8:50
6th Grade - On Stadium Track 9:30-10:00
Parents may join us outdoors when it’s your child’s turn to walk. Watch your child walk/run and cheer them on! An information sheet will be coming home and information will be emailed from our PTO.
Halloween Costumes
Please note, we are not allowing costumes to be worn at school on October 29 (5th-12 grade). This is the day of our Walk-a-Thon and we want our students to proudly display their “Be Nice” t-shirt that we will be providing them!
Thank-you for your continued support and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

ATHLETICS
Mrs. Angie Stauffer: Athletic Director stauffera@calschools.org (616) 891-1380
Wrestling for 6th graders will begin on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM in the North Upper Mat Room at Duncan Lake Middle School gym. If your 6th grader wishes to sign up for Wrestling, you will need to register them on FinalForms.
All student-athletes are required to be registered on our online athletic registration program. We are partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms for your students online. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! You will review your information once per school year to verify the information is correct and sign the forms. Please take a moment and sign up for your athlete for the upcoming 2021-2022 Sports season. Using FinalForms is a one-stop-shop for the entire registration process. Please use the Middle School website. The Athlete Registration link that is provided on the Athletics Homepage and creates a new account under the "Parent Login" portion. On the Athletics homepage, you will also see a link for the "Parent Playbook" which gives you step by step instructions through the registration process. You do not need to pay the athletic fee until the season you are registering your athletic for begins. The registration link is: https://caledonia-mi.finalforms.com. Also, your athlete needs to have an Athletic physical form completed, signed and dated by the physician before he/she can participate in practices or competitions. This athletic physical needs to be dated on or after April 15, 2021.
There will be a shuttle bus to take wrestlers to DLMS. When you are picking up your child from practice please use the parent pick-up area off Kraft Avenue (on the west side of the school). Payment for athletics is not required until after the 1st Competition. You will be notified by Final Forms when payment is due.
