Lockdown Drill Recap
I thought our lockdown drill this week went well, but it was a very controlled environment (You knew exactly when it would be, no students were in the hallway, etc). Our next Lockdown drill will be unannounced and may be at an inconvenient time.
Overall, we can be quicker closing our doors. They should be locked, so it should just be a matter of kicking out the doorstop and closing them. Take a quick peek in the hallway and if you see a student, grab them before you close your door. After you close your door, do not open it again until school personnel or police open it to tell you the threat has passed.
Things to talk about with students:
- Classroom, library and office doors will be locked and will not be opened from the inside.
- Students who find themselves outside their classroom will need to find refuge in a bathroom or other space.
United Way Cards
Central Office would like your United Way pledge cards by October 12. You can bring yours to the Grant office and we'll get them delivered to C.O. They'd "prefer" to get one from everyone, even if you don't plan to give.
4th Grade Orchestra
It is awesome to have this many 4th graders interested in orchestra! They were so excited to be able to begin to use their bows this week!
Future Career Day
I didn't trample on anyone's dreams during Future Career Day, but I'm pretty sure Kaden will not become Captain America and I'm 100% sure that Chloe will not become "her grandpa."
Be the Nice Kid!
Love this reminder!
Copying Costs
We made 54,754 copies in August in 2018, costing us $747.54. That's down from $804 in 2016, but up from $445 last year.
Please keep costs in mind when you are making copies! Thanks to everyone for doing their part!
Student Focused Instruction
Our Google Classroom module for the next couple of weeks is on Student Focused Instruction. Looks like there are five things to complete or respond to.
I have really enjoyed reading your comments! And the best ones are when you are commenting about another colleague's post. Then it starts to become transformative learning!
Speaking of Transformative Learning....
I really like the "Growth Mindset" display next to the lost and found! Great reminders for students and staff! Is a similar display going up on second floor, too?
#KindnessRocks
If you are going to participate in the Kindness Rocks project, we need your completed rocks to the office by next Wednesday, Oct. 10 so we can get them delivered to the church for the weekend.
