Arbor Day Celebration
We hosted an audience of our school community and distinguished guests including Mayor Rilling, Superintendent Dr. Estrella, and Senator Bob Duff. It was a beautiful celebration of trees. From tiny seeds we can grow might trees!
Animal Nation Assembly for One School, One Book!
In collaboration with One School One Book, we are excited to have Animal Nation come to talk to Rowayton School students on May 1st. Animal Nation is a local non-profit Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Facility with a mission to eliminate cruelty to animals while spreading compassion into the hearts of all beings. Animal Nation rescues, rehabilitates, and releases hundreds of orphaned and injured wild animals in Fairfield County and surrounding areas and will share some of these stories with our students.
To help support our friends at Animal Nation, we will be doing a donation drive. Starting this week there will be boxes located near the front office for students to place donation items. Please see the wishlist below. Every donation will receive one ticket towards our One School One Book raffle! We will also have animal donation jars in each classroom. We encourage kids to raise money in creative ways! The class that raises the most funds will get a live animal visit with Animal Nation!

NWEA Window Continues
NWEA MAP Growth assessment is a nationally standardized test which measures what students know and informs what they're ready to learn by using a computer adaptive test that adjusts to the student. Your child's teacher will use the results of the NWEA MAP Growth assessments to better understand your child's individual needs in order to promote progress. Students at Rowayton will participate in the NWEA MAP Growth assessments in math and reading at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.
The window for administering these tests will begin on April 18. Below is an outline of the grades that will be testing each day. Your child’s teacher can provide you with a more a more detailed outline of the testing schedule.
If your child must be absent during this window, a make up date will be arranged. Teachers have prepared for positive and calm testing environments. Please join us in ensuring that our students are both mentally and physically prepared. We encourage rest the night before, and breakfast will be available at school if needed. Thank you for your continued support!
