Read Across America
Reading gives us a place to go
Reading has incredible benefits and there are many reasons why we should develop the habit of reading. Habits, however, take time to form, and starting early is a good choice. That is why promoting the habit of reading is essential to our kids' education.
Around this time, in any given year, we would be volunteering at school reading aloud to our students for Read Across America and the Book Store event at Lipscomb. This year we cannot participate in that manner, but we can still volunteer our time and resources. Everyone is encouraged to help promote reading and storytelling by making a recording that can be shared with our students, in-person, or remotely. Ms.Acevedo has created a Flipgrid topic page for parents and friends to record themselves reading to our students. There are many digital resources available through Sora, or Hoopla & Libby via the Dallas Public Library.
Or we can use any appropriate picture book or e-book that we have in our home.
If you are able to participate in making a recording, please do so before this Friday, February 26th.
