WHPS students can receive free meals through June 2022

FREE Breakfast and Lunch for ALL WHPS Students in School

You may be thinking about what WHPS children will do for meals during school. The good news is that ALL students are eligible for FREE breakfast and lunch. There are no income requirements. WHPS wants to ensure that every student gets a nutritious meal during the school day. All students of WHPS are encouraged to enjoy a bagged breakfast and/or lunch. This page outlines other community food programs and local resources.

Additional Resources

  • Rental Assistance Program for families impacted by the pandemic. Information is available here: https://portal.ct.gov/DOH/DOH/Programs/UniteCT. Under the program the State will provide financial assistance to pay down rental arrears and help with future rent for families who have lost income as a result of the pandemic. If anyone has questions about the program the CT Fair Housing Office has some experience with it would be happy to provide assistance. Families can visit http://www.ctfairhousing.org or call Greg Kirschner directly at (860) 263-0724.

To Donate Non-Perishable Food, Gift Cards or Money

  • Gift Card Donations- Growing Great Schools has partnered with the schools nurses and social workers of the West Hartford Public Schools to provide gift cards for groceries and other daily living expenses for families in need. All donations at this time will be directed to the purchase and distribution of these gift cards to help ease the burden in our community caused by the current pandemic.
