Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
https://www.snap4ct.org/ is a program of UConn Health that provides health and nutrition information for people who receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. SNAP4CT is your source for healthy, budget-friendly recipes, Connecticut farmers markets, (indicating which Markets accept SNAP and Double fruit & veggie purchases for SNAP recipients) and tips for healthier living.
SNAP Updates - H.R. 133-Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 includes:
- Temporary 15% increase in monthly SNAP benefits through June 2021.
- Excludes unemployment compensation from being counted as income for the purposes of calculating SNAP benefits and eligibility.
- SNAP benefits cannot be used for shipping, delivery or service fees
- Instacart pickup fees are $1.99 and delivery starts at $3.99.
- Instacart will waive fees on first 3 SNAP orders thru March 15, 2021.

To Donate Non-Perishable Food, Gift Cards or Money
- Food Donations should be made to West Hartford Food Pantry. WHPS Grab and Go sites will accept food donations and deliver them to WH Food Pantry for distribution.
- Gift Card Donations- Growing Great Schools has partnered with the schools nurses and social workers of the West Hartford Public Schools to provide gift cards for groceries and other daily living expenses for families in need. All donations at this time will be directed to the purchase and distribution of these gift cards to help ease the burden in our community caused by the current pandemic.
