Welcome to Distance Learning
We are so excited to let you know that we are ready to kick off our Distance Learning! By now your child's teacher has reached out to you to make sure you are connected through the Google Classroom. We will be visiting your child's classroom to see the work students are doing, as well as making comments and posting video messages to continue encouraging them to do their best, just like we do when we are actually at school.
Attendance and participation is expected as our teachers will be assigning work to be completed and turned in over the next few weeks. Our teachers have worked hard the past week to adapt to the new way of teaching. We expect to see the great teaching and learning, it will just be online now. Teachers are re-creating their everyday procedures and routines and have taken home familiar items and visuals from their classrooms to help support your child's learning during this time. In addition to high quality instruction, your child will receive opportunities for enrichment and discovery beyond the core curriculum. Our GT teacher will be sharing enrichment activities, along with PE, Art, Music, and Technology, so that your child does not miss a thing! Our academic specialists in math and reading will be supporting through the Google Classroom. In addition, to supporting your child's social-emotional needs during this time, both of our counselors will be providing activities, videos, and lessons to help your child process some of their feelings they may be experiencing.
In order to help your child be successful, please set aside some time each day for your child to use their NISD Distance Learning system. We ask that students work on activities everyday, use the resources, links, and activities their teacher has provided for them. If you have questions or need clarification, please contact your child's teacher.
We miss our students and know that they will rock this! We look forward to seeing all the great learning that is going to happen in our online classes.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Southworth and Mrs. Barraza
