Staying Connected
Woodland's Remote Learning Plan
Dear Families;
Yesterday, the Superintendent sent families information about the District's Remote Learning Plan. Within this document was Woodland's Remote Learning Plan which I've included for easy access.
As the COVID-19 crisis has evolved, we have attempted to provide educational resources for students and parents. We began by providing a document of resources and activities that parents could utilize to keep students connected with learning. With direction provided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education due to the extended school closure, refinements have been made to students’ continuous learning plan and will take effect on Monday, April 6, 2020.
We will continue to provide access to on-line learning platforms and teachers will continue to provide two to three additional learning opportunities each week to extend and deepen student learning. The Specials and Title I teachers will also provide weekly activities which will be included in the grade level newsletters. The school adjustment counselors will also provide a social and emotional component in these newsletters. This information will be sent to families on Sunday of each week. DESE guidance is that students should be engaged in learning opportunities for approximately three hours each day, approximately half of a school day.
Weekly Student Expectations
i-Ready Reading and Math
K-2- Three (3) days a week for 20-30 minutes each subject.
Lexia
All grades- 15 minutes daily
Reading- can be a combination of audio, independent, or shared reading
PreK 15 minutes daily
K 30 minutes daily
1st 30 minutes daily
2nd 30-45 minutes daily
Teacher assigned activities/projects
All grades will have 2 or 3 activities or projects posted weekly to review or enrich previous standards taught. These should be independent and need no more support than a typical homework assignment.
Additional guidance is that our students' work is not to be formally graded, although it is expected that students be engaged in the opportunities for learning that have been skillfully and thoughtfully designed by our teachers. The teachers will have the ability to keep track of those who are completing and engaging in the work and those who might need additional assistance. Student progress will be noted on report cards. A completion of 60% of assignments would show a good faith effort.
If you have any questions or need some additional support, our teachers will be holding two hours of office time daily. They will share what times they are available. Please note, these times may change due to the uncertainty of their daily lives as they too are working from home and juggling their work and home demands, but they will make every attempt to be consistent.

Square 1 Art - Information from PTO
Students in Powder Mill and Woodland School all submitted art for our spring fundraiser, Square1 Art. They worked SO HARD! In light of events, the company that we use has offered to continue our fundraiser as an online fundraiser so that those of us that want to purchase that mug, magnet, or bag can continue to do that!
💥Simply click www.shop.square1art.com, and click on "Find Your Child's Art", and enter state, school name, and your child's name. Your child's art code will then appear.
💥Once you enter your child's art code provided, you may then view your child's art, and order products! (Mobile Users: If you are already logged in to your Square 1 Art account, and do not see "Find Your Child's Art", scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click on "view full site" and the page will re-load and you will see "Find Your Child's Art".)
💥You will now have your purchases shipped right to your home for $4.95 for all of your purchases (no matter how big or small).
We completely understand that this is not ideal timing to do a fundraiser, but the art teachers Mrs. Beebe and Mrs. Christensen have worked very hard to organize the first part of this, and we don’t want it to be for nothing.
We are also working on updating our website so that information will be there about Square1 Art, Box Tops, and both PM and WS yearbook orders.
We appreciate all your efforts, stay well! Thank you!
