Freshmen Field Trip to MiCareerQuest
MiCareerQuest is a career and college readiness event for 9th-grade students to showcase the high-demand, high-wage jobs in Northwest Michigan!Students will have the opportunity to:
- Talk one-on-one with working professionals in a variety of fields
- Touch, feel, and work with actual workplace equipment, tools, and technology
- Connect classroom learning with real work jobs and their requirements

The field trip will take place on Thursday, May 11 from approximately 12:00 - 2:30 pm. All freshmen will take 1st lunch prior to leaving for the field trip.
NMC Students
Effective immediately all dual enrolled students are asked to return their NMC textbooks to the library at their home school site (WSH, CHS, TCHS). Students are required to check them in with the LMC staff when possible, or to put them on the book cart at the circulation desk marked "NMC TEXTBOOKS ONLY". Students should not put NMC books in the regular school book return depository.
Students are asked NOT to return their textbooks to the NMC bookstore.
NMC textbook returns should all be complete no later Friday, June 9th.
Students with outstanding books that are not returned by the due date will be subject to possible replacement fees.
AP Testing Information
Monday, May 1st kicks off AP Testing. AP Testing will take place over the next two weeks. Depending on the AP Exam subject, standard time exams will range between 2-4 hours in length. Students will need to arrive in the small gym no later than 7:45 am for the morning session and 11:45 am for the afternoon session. Attendance and punctuality are very important. Students should bring pencils, a black or blue pen, and a calculator (if needed). Cell phones and smart watches are strictly prohibited.
Most AP Exams will be administered in the small gym unless a student is pre-approved for testing accommodations via CollegeBoard (IEP or 504 Plan). Alternate testing locations due to CollegeBoard-approved accommodation will be communicated to the student prior to the AP Exam. Most accommodated exams will take place in the Counseling Office.
Bells will be off most of the time over the next two weeks while testing takes place. Academic Assistance will be closed on the following dates to support AP Testing:

FREE Seizure Recognition & First Aid Training opportunity on Tuesday, May 9 at West Senior High School from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. (this is NOT a TCAPS sponsored event/training; it is being offered by the Epilepsy Foundation). (organized by WSH student Anna Beers)
TCAPS Superintendent Monthly Office Hours - Tuesday, May 9, 2023
Dr. John VanWagoner's monthly open office hours for community members will be held in person on Tuesday, May 9 at 5:00 pm at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49684. The meeting will be located on the mezzanine level (second floor) of the bookstore.

Theme is "Shine Bright", dress is FORMAL
WSH Juniors & Seniors may attend + pre-approved guests
Tickets go on sale May 1st for $25 each.
There will be no ticket sales at the door.
Guest pass requests are submitted online (May 8th deadline)

Congrats to Samantha Van Wingen on being selected as the Harvard Book Prize winner by the The Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Western Michigan. This award recognizes an outstanding student in the next-to-graduate class that displays excellence in scholarship and character.

Signing Day: May 17 is the Spring NCAA Athlete Signing Ceremony. Please make sure Mrs. Rickenburg has your information ASAP if you plan on participating in this event.
Open Gyms: Off-season open gyms for girls basketball, boys basketball and volleyball are taking place this spring. Please stop down for information in the athletic office. Open gyms are a great way to get connected or stay connected with the sport-- ALL ARE WELCOME. Days and times often change with these informal workouts.
