Top O' the Morning and a Pot of Gold

This past Friday, while CVUSD students were sleeping in and dreaming about leprechauns, shamrocks, and all things green, our dedicated Wildwood staff was up at the "top o' the mornin" getting ready for a day of professional learning. Elementary School teams gathered at NPHS for a mini-workshop complete with engaging discussions and activities focused on our "why": students. Our amazing CVUSD Campus Safety Assistants gathered at Century Academy for a deeper dive into security and safety training. Our phenomenal Counselors met together at the University Campus for a morning focused on training, sharing, and working together to best support our CVUSD students. It was inspiring to see all of our educational professionals coming together with the collective goal of supporting students, families, and each other.

A few days prior, I had the privilege of delivering a 2-minute Distinguished Schools' presentation at the CVUSD School Board Meeting on behalf of Wildwood. If you have 2 minutes to spare, I invite you to view it HERE (scroll to minute 23:45) to see why I believe Wildwood is truly the Pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow.

Warmly,

Mr. Lynch

Wildwood Enrollment Projection Form - Last Call to Complete

Thank you to the families who have already completed this form. 233 of our 385 students are already accounted for.

In order to properly plan staffing for the 2023-2024 school year, we are requesting that ALL families who currently have a child attending Wildwood Elementary complete THIS FORM. If you have more than 1 child currently attending Wildwood, please complete a separate form for each child. This form should take less than 1 minute to complete.

Families of 5th grade students do not need to complete this form for your 5th grade student because we are already aware that they will be moving on.

Lost & Found Items Leaving Campus Soon

All items not picked up by April 6 (the last day before Spring Break) will be donated to a local charity during Spring Break. Please stop by our Lost & Found rack which is rolled out to the front of school every Friday, and see if you need ton claim any long-lost items.

Open House Date Change

After a 3-year hiatus, we are excited to bring back classroom visits for Open House this school year. Open House is an evening for students to show families their classroom, informing them of activities, projects, and assignments they have completed during the school year. We originally had this event scheduled for May 18, but it has been rescheduled to the following date and times:

Thursday, May 25

5:30pm: PTA General Association Meeting
6:00-7:00pm: Classroom Visits

Please mark your calendars accordingly.

Part-time Paid Job Opportunities at Wildwood - Last Chance to Express Interest

Only 1 week left to express interest in the following job opportunities. If you or someone you know might be a good fit, please contact our office to schedule a meeting.

Substitute Campus Supervisors

We have a terrific campus supervision team at Wildwood, but we are currently in need of individuals who are willing to serve as substitutes for shifts on an as needed basis. We may have part-time positions with regular shifts available next school year, so this is a great way to get your feet wet and see if this work is a good fit for you. Contact Karen Meyer if interested.

Music Specialist for TK-3rd Grade

Wildwood currently has weekly music classes for grades 4 & 5, but we would like to extend services to all TK-3rd grade classes. If you or someone you know has experience providing learning experiences in music and/or the performing arts, please contact Mr. Lynch at klynch@conejousd.org.

P.E. Teacher for 2023-2024 School Year

Our beloved P.E. teachers, Robin Cookus and Tracy Rogers, will be hanging up their whistles at the end of this school year, so to maintain continuity with our program, we would like to bring on replacement P.E. teachers for the remainder of this school year to work alongside them and learn the program. If you or someone you know are interested in one of these 10-20 hour/week positions, or if you would like to begin with a 1-2 day/week shadow position for the remainder of this school year, please contact Mr. Lynch at klynch@conejousd.org.

School Attendance and Scheduling Vacation

Start building good attendance habits early on (article) so children learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Attending school regularly improves academic performance and helps children feel better about school and themselves.

Absences: If your student will be absent, please call our office to report the absence. Students are marked “truant” when we don’t hear from a parent. https://www.conejousd.org/Page/1764

Tardies: Please try to avoid being tardy. When a student enters the classroom tardy, it disrupts the morning instruction for the entire classroom. School begins promptly at 8:10am and leaving the house just 10 minutes earlier can make all the difference.

Vacation: Please avoid scheduling vacation when school is in session. See our “School Year Calendar” for important dates when scheduling vacation.

School Spirit Day - March 31

Our next school spirit day is March 31. The theme will be "Disney Day" OR "Character Dress-up Day". Students are encouraged to dress up in Disney Attire OR dress up like their favorite character from any book, movie, or TV show.
