First Grade Friendsgiving Food Drive

Dear Rose Glen Families,

This school year, first-grade students have been learning about the value of community and the different roles community members have. They have also been working hard to practice their Rose Glen “Be Statements” and spread kindness whenever and wherever they can.

This holiday season, first graders have decided to give back to their community by hosting the 1st Annual First-Grade Friendsgiving Food Drive! Between now and Friday, December 6th, please have your student(s) bring in any non-perishable food items from the wish list below. These items will be given back to our community through a donation to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County. Please make sure that all donations are not past their expiration date.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to first-grade teacher Mrs. Shumaker at sshumaker@waukesha.k12.wi.us. Thanks for helping first-graders give back to their community this holiday season!

Happy Monday Rose Glen Families! I hope that everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving with family and friends. This will be my first official full week back here at Rose Glen. The short week provided a great opportunity to see all the smiling faces of our Rose Glen students. Wow! It really is a gift to be principal of such a great building that is filled with wonderful children and wonderful families. Thank you for making this such a great school community and for all that you do to support our children during the school day and for all that you do to provide wonderful events for our children outside of the school day. Your commitment to our school is what makes it such a special place. I look forward to seeing all of you again and I also look forward to getting to know all of our new families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if there is anything I can do and please feel free to stop by the office. Looking forward to SOARING LIKE EAGLES!

Bus Passes

If you are requesting a bus pass for your child to go to another student's home after school, a note is required. These notes are forwarded to the office for processing, so please include your child's first and last name, teacher, date needed, and who they will be riding home with. Sometimes note come up to the office with only first names and then the office has to interrupt a classroom to get more information. If you know the bus number of the other student's bus, please include, otherwise we can look it up.

Safe Arrival Attendance System

To enhance the existing absence reporting procedure, the School District of Waukesha introduced a new, more efficient student absence reporting system called "SafeArrival" which started at Rose Glen in October of 2018. This system works in conjunction with our district messenging system (School Messenger). It reduces the time it takes to verify student attendance, makes it easier for you to report your child’s absence and makes it easier for staff to respond to unexplained student absences. We would love to have all of our families using this system by the start of school.

Pre-Excused Absences: If you know your child is going to be absent and you want to report that before the student is marked absent in school, Safe Arrival provides three convenient methods:

1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at https://go.schoolmessenger.com). The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.

2. Use the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.

3. Call the toll-free number 1-866-490-7371 to report an absence using the automated phone system. These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.

Future absences can be reported at any time.

Post-Excused Absences: If you were not able to report your child’s absence in advance you will be notified by the SchoolMessenger system if your child is marked absent.

You are notified of a reported absence within minutes of the reported absence.

The School Messenger app or the website will allow families to customize where they want to receive their notifications and allow them to excuse the absence right from the notification.

If you report your child’s absence in advance using the SafeArrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive these notifications.
