Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
Dear Rising Star Families,
Thank you for a great start to our 21-22 school year! Our hearts were full seeing so many families at Meet the Teacher Night. Having your support gives us all the positive energy and motivation that we need to be our very best each day for our students and families.
We also want to thank you for the great amount of patience that you have shown as we work through student arrival and dismissal procedures. We realize that it is taking too long and we are working through all of the details to ensure this process moves quicker in the days to come. A couple of things that will help us do better include:
Talking to your child each morning to ensure that they know which way they are going home (car rider, bus rider, walker, trail walker). Communicate this with the classroom teacher as well.
During arrival, once your car is in the circle drive in the back, have your child take off their seatbelt and put on their backpack so that they are ready to exit the car.
Practice your family number so your student also knows this number.
Have your child seated on the passenger side of the car so they can exit directly onto the curb and the staff can help them in and out of the car. This also assists with their safety as well.
In the past school years we have been able to complete dismissal in about 20 minutes meaning we have all students in their cars and headed home in about 20 minutes. We will get there again as we all work through the daily routine. If you are a new family to Rising Star we assure you it will get faster!
We need to ask that you refrain from:
Dropping your child off in front of the school before 8:10 a.m. This lane is for the busses only.
Parking and letting your child walk through the parking lot. This is a safety issue for your child as they could get hit by a car leaving the car loop.
Dropping your child off on the street in front of the school and allowing them to run across the street. This is a safety issue as well.
Working together will help us all get this process fine tuned so families can be in and out as quickly and safely as possible.
Best Regards,
Tammy De La Rosa and the Rising Star Teachers and Staff
Car Rider System
This year we will be assigning numbers to all families to help streamline our car rider system. We have assigned all families numbers regardless of how your student dismisses, please hold onto these in the instances when your child may be a car rider. On "Meet the Teacher Night" we will be passing out the car hang tags with your family number. If you are unable to make it to "Meet the Teacher Night" they will be sent home with your students on the first day of school. Please cut these out and hang from your review mirror so that it can be visible when going through the car line. You have been provided with two car tags so that multiple family members have them available!
