Weekly Report
Well, we made it through this first week back. I am going to be 100% transparent here. Monday was rough. Talking loudly through a mask is tougher than I thought. It is hard to project your voice all day long. Tuesday was much better and I felt relieved. Wednesday I felt overwhelmed with planning for online learners and in person. Thursday and Friday were pretty good. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you all. Thank you for giving us grace with our learning of this new way of teaching. As I have heard many say, we are building the plane as we are flying it right now. Please know that as I learn new stuff, things may change. Some educational programs play well/schedule nicely with Google Classroom. Others do not. Please know Miss Mendoza and I are putting alot of extra time into everything. We have Miss Mendoza until 10/28.
We are making sure the kids get mask breaks. We are social distancing the best we possibly can. Your children's health and well-being are of the upmost importance to us.
I send a homework Remind nightly. The kids should know what homework they have at night. If they have paper homework, it will be on the return to school side. Sometimes they may need to bring a book home with their homework. Kids that cannot complete classwork during school may have that work sent home. Remind messages may have reminders to those kids who have more work to finish. It helps if you have a conversation with your child about the Remind message so they have their work complete for the next school day.
Mrs. Pilewski came in and discussed Covid experiences with the class. She talked about the good and the bad that has come from it. She will be coming in once a month to complete some guidance lessons with the kids. We are so lucky to have a school counselor with us full time.
Reading--- Our main story is The U.S Constitution. It is nonfiction. We will focus on text and graphic features, text structure, and a central idea. We will have a quiz on Friday.
Math--We will start Topic 3 Apply Properties: Multiplication Facts for 3, 4, 6, 7, 8. We are working hard on our facts. Multiplication flash cards are coming home to be finished and reviewed regularly. It is so important to learn these facts.
Spelling--Our words focus on three letter blends with spl, scr, spr, squ, and str. We will have our test on Friday on Spelling City.
Social Studies--We will continue our issue with the wildebeest on the cover. Science--We will work on the Works of Water Unit lesson 2--Why is there sand at the beach?
English-- We will focus on verbs this week. A Google Slide on verbs will be posted in Google Classroom to refer back to before our quiz on Friday.
