All About Lauren Wilkie
10th Grade Writing Teacher at CICS Northtown in Chicago, IL
My name is Lauren Wilkie, and I am a 10th grade Writing Teacher at CICS Northtown Academy, a charter high school on the Northside of Chicago. I graduated from Michigan State in 2011, and upon graduation, worked at a private school in Metro Detroit. Led by my desire to work in urban education and move to a big city, I took a leap of faith and moved to Chicago. I have been working at my school for two years, serving as the founder of the NTA Writing Center and leader of New Teacher Induction. I am the K-12 NCTE Policy Analyst for Illinois, and I will be finishing up my Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Illinois this Spring; however, I still Bleed Green!
Through this program, I would like to continue contributing to the success of my school and my growth as an educational leader.
My academic interests revolve around pedagogy, literacy, grammar, and curriculum design; I am also interested in the development of new teachers.
