From the Principal.....
Dear Mustang Families,
The Mustang staff are committed to creating a year of excellence for our children as we focus on bringing our students, staff and community together to "Believe” in our path together. "Believe" is our motto as we continue to focus on making our district vision and mission the core of our daily work with children, teachers and parents. This will guide our work to believe in our students, our staff and our families working together. We're going to believe in each other in our quest to make a difference. #McBrideBelieve
As always, please feel free to reach out with question, concerns or compliments!
Sincerely,
Lisa Tyler

Haircut Fair for McBride Students Was a HUGE Success
Playground Volunteers
- Meet with Mrs. Tyler
- Have a short training discussion
- Watch a short supervision video
- Discuss Mustang student confidentiality,
- Have aught Yas in hand
- Wear a name tag that shows students they are out there supervising.
- Understand you will not be problem solving - only recognizing the positive.
If this sounds like something you'd like to do, please let the office know so they can set up a meeting with Mrs. Tyler!
CCMH Counselor
We are thrilled to have McKenzie Brock joining us at McBride to support students on Fridays. If you believe your child would benefit from this support, and are not already receiving services outside of McBride, please contact Mrs. Marshall, McBride Counselor) (kerrym@sthelens.k12.or.us) to make a referral. Welcome McKenzie!

100-Book Reading Challenge
The Reading Team invites all McBride families to participate in the 100-Book Reading Challenge. We encourage families to gather together around books every day, whether they are picture books or chapter books. It can be the best part of your day!
One hundred books is a pretty big goal, but please notice that there is no deadline to this challenge. If you don’t reach it this year, keep reading over the summer and into next year. You’ll be building memories and reading skills along the way.
If you would like a special 100-Book Journal to track your progress, please contact Mrs. Sumsion. If you complete the challenge, please contact her and you will receive a special certificate of recognition.
Happy reading, Mustangs!

Danette Russel (Mustang Foster Parent) Ms. Russel was a foster mom of one of our Mustangs. That student has now moved to her fovever home. When asked what we should do with the $ that she had previously sent for the student to have a McBride shirt and for our field trip, she said to use them for other kids that might need a little love. When the envelope was opend, she had paid enough for 3 shirts and 2 kids to go on field trips. Thank you, Danette!
Sara Landels (4th Grade Teacher) Miss Landels is a wonder! She jumps in to help a student, parent, or staff member whenever needed. She supports everyone at McBride with a fantastic "Can Do" attitude. We are fortunate to have Miss Landels at McBride.
Mr. Scott (our super custodian), is one of the kindest people I've ever met. He calmly and patiently helps everyone at McBride. We are fortunate to have his expertise, friendship, and support. Thank you Mr, Scott!
Kendra Griffin (1st Grade Teacher) Thank you, Mrs. Griffin, for being so open with your classroom to allow in helpers.
Cindi Johnson (Speech Team) Mrs. Franz has a student who was scheduled to come to the Mustang Hollow. Since her schedule is tight at that time, she is not able to pick him up for his first real appointment. Mrs. Johnson had him for speech and she was able to go over with him what the expectations were as she walked him back to class after his Speech time. This kind of teamwork helps! Mrs. Franz gives a special shout out to all her D Pod partners!
Lindsay Campbell (3rd Grade Teacher) Thank you, Mrs. Campbell, for being so open with your classroom to allow in helpers.
Erika Kunders (Kindergarten Teacher) Mrs. Kunders goes out of her way to make all of the staff feel special. Last week she gifted a staff member a pair of earrings for no reason at all. Her smile, sweet disposition, and giving spirit makes all of her students and the other staff members feel loved and appreciated. Thank you, Erika!
The Fourth Grade Volunteers Thank you for chaperoning our 4th grade trip to the Ape Cave. Their presence helped keep our kids safe and provide for an enriching experience. Without their partnership, the trip wouldn’t be possible.

Heather Braaten (Speech Team) Her team watches her work tirelessly to paying attention to students progress in speech therapy and she spends extra time to test them out and make room for our new cases so we can give them our best resources. Thank you, Ms. Braaten!
