Introducing the G-STEAM Academy

Leadership from throughout the district came together to finalize the application for T-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) designation through TEA. GISD will enhance the program even further by adding Fine Arts creating a STEAM Academy. The opportunities that a STEAM designation offers to our GISD students is endless, and our students deserve the very best. The program is designed to incorporate STEAM instruction in grades K-5, preparing all students for the G-STEAM Academy in grades 6-10, which will expand to grades 11-12 in subsequent years. STEM program development is one of the three Board of Trustees goals which were established in the Fall. Once designation is approved, more detailed information will be shared. It's a GREAT day to be a Leopard!

Dual Language Enrichment Academy

Be a part of something great! Do you want your child to be fluent in two languages? GISD is implementing a Dual Language Two-Way program beginning the 2017-2018 school year, beginning with Pre-K,Kinder and 1st grade students. The two-way program gives our students the opportunity to learn two languages and become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural.

The first of two information sessions was offered on March 28 and parents showed tremendous interest in the program. An additonal informational meeting will be held on Monday, April 10 at 6:30pm at Edison Elementary to learn more about the program, the benefits of learning in a dual language environment, and hear from GISD administrators on their experiences leading a two-way dual language program. For more information, visit www.gainesvilleisd.org/bilingual.
