Late Start Wednesdays for 2019-20

Next year we have made some adjustments to our Bell Schedules that will allow for more consistency, more teacher collaboration, and slightly more sleep for our kids. We will be moving to Late Starts EVERY Wednesday! A link to the current draft of the bell schedules is below.

College Board Changes the AP Ordering Process for 2020

The College Board, creators of Advanced Placement, recently announced significant changes to the AP exam ordering process, deadlines, late fees and cancellation fees that will be mandated for all schools and all students in the 2019-2020 school year.

For the 2019-2020 school year, all exam registration will take place in October 2019. Information and cost for all exams will be released to students at the beginning of the school year. All students in AP classes, who register after November 2019, will be charged an additional $45.00/exam late fee. In addition, a $40.00/exam cancellation fee will be charged for any exam order canceled after November 15, 2019.

It is important that all families are aware of these changes, especially as students begin registering for their 2019-2020 courses. College Board made the change to their timeline based on research data showing that AP registration rates and exam scores increased significantly when students registered in fall versus spring. More information on the changes for next year can be found at https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/ap-2019?excmpid=mtg434-pr-1-vid.

ADD/DROP and CHALLENGE WINDOW – 4/29-5/10

Students wanting to make adjustments to their course requests will have an opportunity to Challenge into a higher level of course than they were recommended by completing a CHALLENGE FORM that can be found on the Beckman Counseling website. Students wanting to change to a different elective or course choice should complete an ADD/DROP FORM that can also be found on the Beckman Counseling website. All change requests must be submitted to counseling by Friday May 10th, any further change requests will need to be made at registration in August.

Signing Day

On Wednesday, April 17th we had the pleasure of honoring seven of our student-athletes at Break. Each of the young men and women have committed to play their sport in college next year and were not a part of our group honored in November. Parents and friends came to the outdoor stage to take photos with them and help them celebrate their accomplishment and commitment. The list of the student-athletes and their schools included: Casey Cummings(Michigan)for Gymnastics, Trevor Ernt(San Jose St.) for Baseball, Lauren Frank(Chapman)for Lacrosse, Hanna Kim(Pomona College) for Soccer, Diego Lopez(Mt. Mercy University) for Soccer, Lilli Rask(Oregon) for Soccer, Ivana Rusich(USC) for Beach Volleyball. We are proud of these Patriots and wish them the best of luck at their prospective schools.
