Wentzville Parents as Teachers
August 2019
2019-2020 School Year
Hello again!
We hope you have had an amazing summer and enjoyed some time with family and friends. We would like to take a moment to thank all of our families who have participated in the Parents as Teachers program. We are especially grateful to the families that waited patiently for visits last year. We continue to restructure services to meet the needs of families and to attain the quota assigned to us by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Expect a call from your Parent Educator by October and she will explain what your specific service delivery model will look like.
We have a lot of fun group connections planned for this year and are excited to announce the restructuring of our fee-based parent classes. Our classes will no longer require a fee to attend. More details below.
Additionally the Parents as Teachers staff is thrilled that we have received funding from the District and we will be participating in We Stories, a program designed to help us discuss and talk about equity and equaility within our community. The program provides a wide range of topics and will teach us how to talk to even the smallest learners to hopefully make our community a more inclusive and inviting place for everyone.
Don't forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram: @WentzvillePAT.
We are looking forward to a year with great activities that will help you and your family get to know other families within the community and help support you through these early years in your child’s development.
Kindergarten Screening
Get a jump start on the kindergarten registration process by having your child screened on Monday, October 21, 2019. This is a great opportunity to see where your child is developmentally, learn their strengths, and see in what areas they may need some extra work before kindergarten begins. Please call the Parents as Teachers office at (636) 327-3863, ext. 22281, to schedule an appointment. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of the early screening opportunity if you have any concerns about your child’s development.
We will also be offering screenings in the preschools again this year so future kindergarten students will have the opportunity and convenience of having their screening done on-site.

Let's Talk!
Are you not sure how to expand your child's vocabulary? Do you need ideas of how to incorporate language into your daily life? Enriching your home environment with language is the best way to increase your child's use and understanding of everyday language. Speech and Language Pathologists from Barfield Early Childhood will be presenting at this parent group. They will discuss the need for bombardment of language throughout a child's entire day. The Speech Pathologists will offer strategies and supports for your home!
