Celebrating Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

To our families celebrating the Jewish holy days of Rosh Hashanah (September 26) and Yom Kippur (October 5), we wish you all peace and time with your family to celebrate and acknowledge these special days.

We welcome families who are interested in sharing information and traditions with students so our community can learn more about the religions and cultures of the world. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to reach out to their homeroom teacher if they would like to engage in a class or division level activity.

October brings a well-timed break for students, families, and faculty. There is no school next Friday, October 7 - Tuesday, October 11.

Communications Survey: Weekly Schoolwide Communications

With Chartwell's growth across divisions and our return to pre-pandemic levels of activity, the need for clear, effective and timely communications with our community is critical. As we look at solutions to create a more centralized communications approach, we are inviting our families to share feedback, beginning with our weekly school-wide communications, about what would be most helpful for you. Please take a moment to complete the brief survey below.

Calling All Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley Families! Carpool Help Needed!

We have a high school student in Santa Cruz (located between Highway 17 and Glen Canyon Road, North of the Fishhook) in urgent need of a carpool. If you have any room in your carpool or know of a driver who may have space, please email info@chartwell.org with your contact information. The family can meet in Santa Cruz or Aptos if needed and can help with driving in the mornings (preferred, but flexible.)

Families throughout the Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties make many sacrifices to be able to send their students to Chartwell, and our community has always found a way to help each other out. Thank you in advance!

Big picture

Looking for Chartwell Count Me In Hosts!

This fall, as part of Chartwell's annual fund campaign, we would like to offer our community a series of Count Me Ins! Count Me Ins (also known as "buy-ins") are parent, caregiver, or faculty-hosted events in which attendees contribute to the annual fund at a certain level to attend. For example, a parent or caregiver hosts a movie night in their backyard with pizza and popcorn, and families contribute $25 per person to attend. The $25 goes towards the Annual Fund.

Thank you to the families and faculty and staff who have come forward with fun and creative ideas!

Some examples have included:

  • Karoake Night
  • Sunset Cocktails and Appetizers at a Private Home
  • Gingerbread House Making Class
  • Bocce Ball, Ping Pong or Pickle Ball Tournament
  • Picnic and Tidepooling at Asilomar
  • Art or cooking class at your home
  • Musical event

The list is endless based on the talents and interests of our community. These events help build community and help support Chartwell's program.

If you are interested in hosting a Chartwell Count Me In, please email Elena Mueller at emueller@chartwell.org.
