Helping Your Child at Home
- READ Every Day Folder: Each child is provided with a take home "READ Every Day Folder" that has a book appropriate for his/her level. Each night, use the resources within to ask questions and keep track of reading behaviors specified for that level. It is a great way to see what your child is learning in school!
- Vocabulary Enrichment: Your child is provided with a sight word list or vocabulary word list designed for his/her level. Each week, we will study 4 news words. Make learning these words from by creating a Go Fish game, rainbow writing these words in different colors, creating flashcards, or putting the flashcards around a room and have your child hunt for them.
- Hands-On Learning: Help your child build foundational math and reading skills by buying Playdough, clay, or beads. Depending on your child's level, he/she can build words, letters, and numbers with these materials.
- Journaling: Create a journal for your child to write in each night. Make it personalized and allow them to decorate it. In this journal, they can answer their reading questions, reflect on what what they learned, think about their favorite part of the day, or free write about anything they choose.
*Note: We will keep individualized resources in our Communication Folders. Depending on your child's level, his/her resources may vary.*
