NCS Early Childhood Programs
Spring 2021
Welcome Spring!
It has been so wonderful to have a glimpse of warmer days ahead. While we are still being cautious and strictly following all protocols we are looking forward to connecting at some of our outdoor groups. Prior registration is not required but you will be required to sign in when you are there. All groups are FREE of charge.
Playgroups for you and your child, May 3rd - June 21
Play With Me, Mondays at 10am
We are heading outside for Play With Me this Spring. Meet us at Children's Beach, bring a blanket and meet with other parents with babies ages birth to 12 months. We will share challenges and successes and learn about the amazing developmental milestones your babies are working so hard towards. We will follow Covid protocol and masks must be worn by all adults. Older siblings are welcome and if they are over 2, they are advised to also wear a mask.
Great news! We have Alice Townsend, Certified Lactation Consultant, coming on May 24 and June 21!
Stories at the playground - Discovery Playground at Hinsdale Park, Thursdays at 10am
We are super excited about this one! Our team will be there to read books in both English and Spanish and there will be time for play too. We hope to see some regular faces as well as meet new families. It's Spring and we are so happy to be able to be out and about again in the community.
Stroller Striders & StoryWalk w/ Activity kit, Fridays at 10am
Stroller Striders and our StoryWalk (with a take home activity kit) will continue to meet through the Spring. We'll be out in the fresh air, chatting and getting some exercise, reading the posted book at the StoryWalk and singing songs at Stroller Striders!
Stroller Striders dates are May 7 & 21 and June 4 & 18 and the StoryWalks are May 14 and June 11.
COVID protocols will be strictly adhered to and masks must be worn by every adult and children over the age of 2.
Our Island Kids & Animals continues through the Spring.
One of our favorite groups is Our Island Kids and Animals. This group will remain virtual throughout the Spring to keep Our Island Home residents safe from COVID. Sign in each week to connect with friends and animals, sing songs and read books. We like to think of this group as your child's first step in volunteering and giving back to the community. It is never too early to start. email richardss@npsk.org for the link to join.
ASQs, a developmental screening tool for you to use at home.
Have you ever had a question about your child's development? Are they on track? My friends child is doing something, why isn't my child? It is perfectly normal to have these questions. An ASQ is a wonderful tool that can help you answer those questions and if you child needs a little help to reach a milestone in some areas, we can give you that information. Access the screening by clicking here. Or scan the QR code.
Storywalks at Nantucket Atheneum, Weezie Library for Children.
Never enough StoryWalks! Check out the latest one in the garden at the Atheneum. Now we have two StoryWalks posted. One in the center of town and one out at the beautiful Linda Loring Nature Foundation property. Who ever said you can read too many books? Not us!
We will update you when the book changes on our Facebook page, Nantucket Community School Early Childhood.
