Helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey
Serving our fellow Texans by collecting much needed supplies.
A message from our principal
This morning we prayed the Holy Rosary. We pray the Rosary on the first school day of each month. Our special intention this morning was for Mrs. Arlene Anderson Jones, President of Holy Trinity Catholic School. She grew up in our Parish (St. Alice and Holy Family) and she was my boss when I was Principal at Holy Trinity. She spent many years at Nolan Catholic High School. She will be missed.
We begin our fourth week of school. Our faculty, staff, and students are working very hard.
The students will be taking the IOWA Assessment and the CogAT (Cognitive Ability Test) next week (Sept 11-15) for grades 1-8.
Please try not schedule any appointments during the mornings next week.
How your child can prepare for test taking—and what you can do to help
A student who is well rested and well fed and has a positive attitude about testing is best prepared for testing. You can help your child do his or her best by considering these tips:
· Make sure that your child is in school and on time on test days.
· Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.
· Remind your child that these tests are only one measure of what he or she has learned. Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.
· Remind your child to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing. Encourage your child to ask the teacher for help if he or she does not understand the directions.
Peace in Christ,
Dr. Shreve Ed.E
