Principal's Message
Hello Sunset Lake Families,
Although Mother Nature put some challenges on us, this was a great week at Sunset Lake!
Thank you Sunset Lake Families for all of the PTSO Walk-A-Thon donations! We are off to a great start for the 2021 Walk A Thon! Our LEAD tickets are in full force and students are showing us they can do the right thing even when no one is watching! Our 5th graders (in-person and virtual) worked hard at completing their English Language Arts and Math portions of our state assessment. Our Student Lighthouse successfully handed out over 600 Douglas Fir tree saplings in honor of Earth Day. Our VHS Recycle Can/Bottle Project was a success, thanks to all of our wonderful families for your donation!
This is our last week for our Leader in Me survey. If you have not already done so, please complete this survey so we can hear from you to help us grow and improve. THANK YOU!
Thank you families for reaching out to us to let us know if your family has any major changes coming up, such as moving, student needs, changes in family dynamics, etc.
Please note, we do not take teacher requests by name, but we do have a Student Learning Placement Form that allows you to share out important information about your child we should take into account as we work to create balanced classrooms for the next school year. Please ask your child's teacher if you would like a copy of the Student Learning Placement Form for your child.
Our students are beginning to show mask-wearing fatigue. We would like your help, by reminding your child that they need to keep their masks over their mouth and nose while at school. We do appreciate all of you helping us control the spread by keeping your child home from school if they are experiencing COVID symptoms or you feel they may have been exposed to COVID-19. We ask that you contact your child's pediatrician when you are unsure of a situation.
PLEASE be sure to ALWAYS contact our office if your child is going to be absent from school so we can track reasons for absences and any possible cases.
Also, we continue to ask if there is anyone in the household who is being tested for COVID-19 to keep your child home until the test results come back. Also, please be sure to go through the student screener questions (see below) each day before you send your child(ren) to school.
As always we continue to encourage all of our families to try and keep safety precautions in mind. Every measure counts and together we can try and minimize the negative impact COVID-19 could have on your child's education.
Please visit this link at State of Michigan Covid for up-to-date information.
Together we can work to minimize exposure for our students and staff. Thank you!
Thank you Sunset Lake Families!
Yours in Learning,
Amie McCaw

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders
For pick-up please be sure to drive around the baseball fields and use Wellhouse to the Sunset Private drive to enter our parking lot. Please stay in your car to keep our traffic flowing. If you need more time for buckling we have found it beneficial to pull forward slowly or park your car to take care of buckling your child.
*IMPORTANT: Our bus ramp should be clear of all cars during our start and end of the day. Please do not pull into our bus ramp area to drop off your child in the morning.
Below you will find our Sunset Lake Drop-off and Pick-up plan in more detail.
