Coding in the Classroom
Scaleable Game Design Professional Development
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving with Game Design and Simulation
The appropriate grade levels for the opportunity would be grades 3-12.
We are looking at pursing the blended learning course format where a trainer will come on-site for three of the six weeks (if we have 10 participants). eMINTS is excited to provide the "oDreams: Coding in the Classroom" opportunity in conjunction with the University of Colorado-Boulder.
If you choose to participate in the research study, this opportunity includes a $200.00 research stipend and a one year complimentary subscription of AgentSheets software, provided by AgentSheets, Inc. Stipends will be paid upon completion of the project and submission of games. If you choose to continue to participate in the research project, your registration for AgentSheets will remain free and active. Graduate credit of two hours is available for $100 per credit hour (UMKC) and $125 per credit hour (UMSL).
I have mentioned this to several people who have expressed their excitement. This coding in the classroom opportunity initially provides the training for you, the teacher, and to then in turn share the fun with the students of Neosho. There are many options for coding instruction and this appears to provide the foundation for those skills. This SMORE flyer is designed to share some basic information and for you to show your interest in this 6 week commitment. Once interest is identified, we will meet and determine the best time to begin this PD opportunity.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE COMPLETE THE CODING IN THE CLASSROOM INTEREST SURVEY (LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER THIS PARAGRAPH) BY MAY 8TH. I am excited about the opportunity to bring this option to the Neosho School District.
