Gymnast Spotlight
Ellie Ambs Competed at the HNI Open Cup this past weekend- Level 10
Grip Guidelines by Coach Jordan
GRIPS! What's the big deal?
- Gymnasts level 4+ are required to carry two pairs of grips in their gym bag.
- Grips should be replaced if any size tear is detected - tears can cause snapping mid-swing causing the gymnast to peel off the bar.
- Backup grips are required to avoid missing practice or competitions.
- Grips will be checked every Friday for tears.
- Backup grips will be used every other Friday so they remain broken in and comfortable.
- Recommended grips: English Bulldog or Ballie. They can be found at www.gymsupply.com
- Skinny/narrow width grips are recommended over the wide grip style.
- Buckles will last longer than velcro.
- Measuring guidelines: measure from the top of the middle finger to the tip of the wrist as shown in the picture below.

WHO LOVES TO SHOP?
It is a one time set up and so easy to do!
- Go to https://smile.amazon.com (instead of Amazon.com)
- Choose J&R Booster Club as your charitable group (you only have to do this one time)
- Log in as you normally would and start shopping
- Please remember to use Amazon smile from this point forward instead of Amazon and J&R Booster club will earn money for every item you purchase.
- Tell all your family and friends to do the same!
What is AmazonSmile?
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization. You can choose from nearly one million organizations to support.
How do I shop at AmazonSmile?
To shop at AmazonSmile simply go to smile.amazon.com from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. You may also want to add a bookmark to smile.amazon.com to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile.
Which products on AmazonSmile are eligible for charitable donations?
Tens of millions of products on AmazonSmile are eligible for donations. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages. Recurring Subscribe-and-Save purchases and subscription renewals are not currently eligible.
Can I use my existing Amazon.com account on AmazonSmile?
Yes, you use the same account on Amazon.com and AmazonSmile. Your shopping cart, Wish List, wedding or baby registry, and other account settings are also the same.
How do I select a charitable organization to support when shopping on AmazonSmile?
On your first visit to AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), you need to select a charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. We will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.
Can I change my charity?
Yes, you can change your charity any time. Your AmazonSmile purchases after the change count towards your newly selected charity. To change your charity, sign in to smile.amazon.com on your desktop or mobile phone browser and simply select “Change your Charity” in “Your Account.”
How much of my purchase does Amazon donate?
The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases. The purchase price is the amount paid for the item minus any rebates and excluding shipping & handling, gift-wrapping fees, taxes, or service charges. From time to time, we may offer special, limited time promotions that increase the donation amount on one or more products or services or provide for additional donations to charitable organizations.
LAST FUNDRAISER OF THE SEASON
- Starts 3/6 - 3/31
- All forms/money must be turned in by 3/31.
- All checks for pre-orders or form orders need to be made payable to J&R Booster Club.
- We would like each gymnast to try and sell between 20-25 bags. This is our last fundraiser for the season. Let's make it a great one!
- Volunteers needed to sell popcorn at night to the rec parents either upstairs or downstairs. Please contact a board member if you are interested in helping. This could be an easy way to sell your popcorn.
- If you are at the Seguin or San Marcos gym please let a board member or your coach know if you are interested in selling and we will get the forms/popcorn delivered to you.
There are 2 options available for selling your popcorn
- Skip using the forms and pick up pre-ordered bags at the meeting on 3/3 or anytime from a board member. You pay for the bags upfront and deliver to customers as you sell them.
- Pick up an order form at the meeting or from a board member and sell popcorn. You can pick up your popcorn either from our pre-ordered supply if any is left or on 4/7.
