What is Leukemia?

Leukemia is a type of blood cancer. Kids and adults both can get it. The term leukemia means white cell.


When you have Leukemia white cells get really big and destroys the regular blood cells. It could cause anemia, bleeding, and infections. It can also cause swelling or pain.

Body Systems Affected

Leukemia affects your immune system. Your immune system protects you from diseases and cancer, but the disease cancer can get strong and fight with your immune system. The disease or cancer can lose or win, and your immune system can lose or win.
