You are Invited to the March Parent/Guardian Workshop

Please join CVUSD's BreakThrough Student Assistance Program and The Conejo Schools Foundation for an online workshop on Tuesday, March 23 at 6:00 PM - "Marijuana: What You Need to Know." Presentations will be given by professionals from Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Ventura County Behavioral Health and the Thousand Oaks Police Department followed by a Q&A. This workshop is open to all CVUSD Parents/Guardians and students 12 years of age and older.

Meet the Panel

Dr. M. Asif Taqi

Dr. M. Asif Taqi is a triple-board certified interventional and stroke neurologist with a background in neurology, vascular/critical care neurology, and neuroendovascular surgery. After growing up and going to medical school in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Taqi decided to relocate to the US to study neuroscience. He completed his research at the prestigious Brown University. From there, he went on to complete his residency in Neurology and later fellowships in vascular neurology, neurocritical care, and endovascular interventional neuroradiology from the University of Tennessee and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Taqi is one of the leading experts in Stroke Neurology in Thousand Oaks, West Hills, LA County areas and is currently the Medical Director of the neuroscience program at Los Robles Regional Medical Center.

David Tovar

David Tovar is a Substance Use Prevention Expert and technical assistance consultant for California's Community Prevention Initiative. For the past six years, David supported the State in creating two Prevention Blueprints to reduce the harm of substances on California's roadways and was appointed to the California Highway Patrol's Impaired Driving Task Force. Throughout his career, David has continually worked to improve access to health services in an effort to support Ventura County's most vulnerable populations. He previously worked for Ventura County Behavioral Health's Substance Use Services Division, California's legislature, and the County's Executive Office. Currently, David works as a Senior Policy Analyst for Gold Coast Health Plan. David holds a B.A. in Political Science from the Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Northridge.

Senior Deputy Rob Brady

Senior Deputy Rob Brady has served with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office for 19 years. He has worked a variety of assignments including Custody, Patrol, Narcotics, the Special Enforcement Unit, and SWAT for 9 years. Senior Deputy Brady has participated in over 2000 hours of narcotic training and has performed over 1000 narcotic investigations. He currently oversees the School Resource Officers (SROs) and school investigations.

Erika Fernandez

Erika Fernandez is a VCBH Substance Use Services, Prevention, Community Services Coordinator. Erika speaks at events, attends health fairs, and works closely with community agencies, to educate parents, families, and the community about the risks of alcohol and drug misuse. She is bi-lingual and engages in many efforts to reach underserved populations in our community.
