JDRF …100,000 Ways to Help Cure T1D

We are very excited to kick off our 9th annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes on Friday, April 5th during large group. Over the past eight years, the students, parents, and community have help us raise over $108,000 to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. As progress is being made to find a cure, there is still more to go.

The students will bring home a JDRF information packet on Friday afternoon. Your students will have an opportunity to participate in the fun by selling colorful paper sneakers (included in the packet) to friends, family, and neighbors. For a minimum $1 donation, a shoe with the name of the donator will be placed on the wall of the gym. Your child may also encourage people to donate on his/her online site by going to which easier to get to those out of town family members.

All packets/donations are due back on April 18th which is our celebration day … the Walk to Cure Diabetes. This is a great day for all of our students. Please join us in helping us find a cure for type 1 (T1D) diabetes by donating to JDRF research.

Thank you ~ Kurt Anselmi

Scouts Beautification

Thank you to the Boy Scouts Pack 831and Girl Scout Troop 109038. Pack 831 worked on the three container gardens adding vegetables and flowers. They also added new geraniums to the front planters. The girl scouts cleaned up the butterfly garden and added a variety of new flowers to the bed. Thank you to all the boys and girls and their sponsors on a job well done!

4th Grade Service Choir

Our 4th grade service choir was designed specifically to give students the opportunity to serve. After attending several rehearsals, they took their show on the road to entertain residents at Park Creek Independent Living Center on Tuesday evening and Parson House Assisted Living on Wednesday evening. They sang patriotic, spiritual and show tunes. They even did a rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" coupled with a reenactment of a batter getting a homerun complete with a pitcher, catcher, umpire and batter. The students were simply amazing and full of positive energy. Following the 30 minute program, students visited with residents for 30 minutes. They introduced themselves and learned all about the residents. This part of the service project really touched my heart and I know it was such a blessing to the residents. A HUGE thank you goes to Mr. Olszewski for teaching more than music here. This is something that will go with the kids forever!
