Fix an Outline
The best thing to do when you have an outline that is messed up is to put your cursor at the beginning of the line that is not formatted correctly and backspace until it is on the previous line, then press enter, and that should get the outline formatting fixed.
If that doesn’t work, it is usually because you have gone rogue and have added a level to your outline by typing a line and spacing over and manually enter the Roman numeral, letter, or number.
HANGING INDENT
- To create a hanging indent, make sure you can see the ruler at the top of your Google Doc. If you don't see the ruler, select the View menu, and click Show Ruler.
- On the ruler is a small blue rectangle on top of an upside down blue triangle.
- Adjust the triangle so that the triangle is at the .5 place and the rectangle remains at the original position of zero.
