What is domestic violence?
Every 9 seconds a women in the u.s. is assaulted or beaten. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Every 9 seconds a women is beat almost to death and every 15 seconds a man is hit by his partner or significant other.
Summary
Domestic violence is a serious problem that everyone needs to be aware of. Over 4 million women experience assault and rape by their partner. The problem is more common that it seems. Studies show that 1 out of 4 women are victims of domestic violence. Overall, every minute 20 people are victims. It is an important issue in todays society and something needs to be done about it. You might not think it is important, until you experience the abuse from someone. That is why this subject is so important so we let people know they can seek help before it happens.
This problem is not exclusive to only women, around forty percent of domestic violence victims are males. The fact that they are men makes authorities ignore their claims of abuse. Most cases reported by males are dismissed and their attacker are set free soon afterwards. Domestic violence is a constant pattern, if it happens once, don't believe in "I promise I wont do it again". Because more than likely it will happen, seek attention immediately from the first incident. This kind of abuse is a way for a person to establish power over their victims, they do this by intimidating them. Most causes are never reported and kept secret but be encourage you to speak up, stand up for yourself and all the other victims that suffer the same way that you are.

After 25 minutes the police were called and Buck Thurman was arrested.
This wasn't the only incident involving domestic violence in the thurman household, several times Tracy called the police but Buck was never arrested during those times.
Little did they know Tracy survived and was going to go to court.
Attention to the 14th Amendment Arises
This was a major deal in Traces case because the amendment also states "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
