Wilshire Notes
all things Suzuki at Wilshire Elementary- May 2015
Take Note!
On May 18th all Wilshire Suzuki students will perform for several of the HEB Suzuki teachers. Each teacher donates a few days to visit other studios and listen to all of the students, and each year the students perform and receive written comments from teachers other than their own. This helps us all to evaluate progress from year to year, and pinpoints things to work on for next year. All children will need to bring their instruments on May 18th, and to wear their Suzuki uniform of purple Suzuki shirt and black pants.
We need parent help with this event- scroll down past the calendar and pictures to see paragraph below!

Help needed May 18th!
We need a few parents each grade level to help with the spring achievement performances. Duties will include gathering the kids from the classrooms and walking them to the Suzuki room, watching over them as they unpack in the hallway and also handing out treats when the performances are over. As a side benefit, parents helping will be able to watch their child play for the teachers! Let me know if you are interested and how long you are able to stay!
This isn't your brother's Witches' Dance!
Summer and Suzuki- so what happens next?
In the summertime you should definitely continue to practice or you might find yourself having to relearn lots of things in September. To help you, there are private lessons offered by several of our HEB Suzuki teachers. Let your teacher know if you would like to take lessons and we will do our best to help!
Another excellent opportunity is to participate in a Suzuki Institute. There are institutes available in all parts of the country and abroad. We also have a local Suzuki institute, which is a weeklong immersion in Suzuki for both parent and child, with daily lessons, group classes, concerts, and fun evening activities. Click the link below to visit their website. This is a fantastic opportunity for our families, since you can live at home and save a little money. I love the way the kids who took lessons or attended institutes sound in September!
