Mrs. Cohen's First Grade News
December 2014
IMPORTANT DATES
It was nice to get to know all of you a little bit better and discuss your child's progress in first grade during conferences. I still have a few conferences to make up in the next week or so from the snow, but all-in-all they went very nicely. I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving! We are in the home stretch of 2014 and we will be VERY BUSY this month!

ELA UPDATE
We are half way through Theme 3 in our second anthology. We will be testing before the winter break. Please make sure that your child is practicing the high frequency words daily. These words appear frequently in the books that your child reads and in most cases cannot be sounded out.
I will be assessing the home reader levels during the first week of December.
MATH UPDATE
SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES UPDATE
At this time, I would like to wish all of you a heartfelt Happy Holiday! Enjoy the time off with your child(ren). Have a safe, healthy and Happy New Year!
School will re-open on Thursday, January 5, 2015.
