NEXT WEEK IS A 'B' SPECIALIST WEEK!!
NEW CLE CAR LOOP PROCEDURES
We are so excited to have our new driveway this school year! We have had additional staff here this week to help direct traffic until parents get the hang of the new procedure. We are happy to report that after the first two days, things are going great! If you plan on utilizing our pick-up, drop-off, or parking lot, please take a moment to go over the loop map. As a reminder, if you will be dropping off or picking up your student, you will enter through the new driveway. If you will be parking, you will enter through the parking lot entrance.
Thank you in advance for keeping our Cheetahs safe!
Picture Day - Coming Soon!
Picture packets will be sent home this week to every student. To accommodate our classes this school year, we will once again have two Picture Days. They have been scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th, and Wednesday, September 18th. Please check with your teacher for more information on the day and approximate time of your student's pictures. Both individual and classroom group pictures will be taken on these days. Our re-take day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30th. If your family is ordering a picture package, then your child must have the order form and payment turned in on Picture Day. Parents may also order online before Picture Day by going to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ and using our exclusive Picture Day ID: LS519201Q0.
Whether or not families order a picture package, all students are required to have a picture taken for his/her office file. Please call the office if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing some great Cheetah smiles!
GO BEARCATS!!
Dear Monroe School District elementary and middle school families,
At Monroe High School, we pride ourselves on the fact that our athletic events are more than just an athletic contest; they are events that bring our entire Monroe community together. We are so appreciative of the support from our community and love having you and your children at our games.
Large athletic events, like our home football games, require high amounts of supervision to ensure the safety and security of our guests and players. For this reason, all elementary and middle school students attending any MHS athletic events must be accompanied by an adult. If an elementary or middle school student arrives at the gate unaccompanied, they will be turned away. In addition, in the case that a student chooses to act inappropriately, they will be asked to view the remainder of the game seated next to the adult they came with.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring our athletic events are safe and enjoyable for all in attendance. Go Bearcats!
Sincerely,
Jeannette Siemers
Assistant Principal & Director of Athletics

Volunteer Applications
School volunteers are welcome and much appreciated at Chain Lake Elementary. However, we typically ask volunteers to hold off on helping in the building for the first couple of weeks of school to give our students and staff time to adjust to their new schedules. Please talk with your child’s teacher about date and times that are most helpful for the class.
All potential volunteers will need to go to the district website, https://www.monroe.wednet.edu/community/volunteer, to complete the volunteer application. If you are unable to fill out an application online, please let your student’s teacher or the school office know. All volunteers must complete a new packet EVERY school year in order to be able to volunteer in a classroom or attend a school-sponsored field trip. NOW is the time to get your Volunteer Application completed and if you are planning to help out this year. Please allow 72 hours for processing.
We thank you for your help and patience. Please feel free to call the office if you have any questions about volunteering at Chain Lake Elementary.
WANTED - Transportation Info
In addition, if you need to get a message or bus change to your student during the school day, please consider the time of day that you are calling. The office gets very busy at the end of the day and while we try to make every effort to deliver late messages, sometimes it is a challenge. To avoid a message from getting missed, please have any changes called in to the office no later than 2:30 PM on regular school days and by 11:00 AM on early release days . Our Office Messenger will be able to get messages out in a timely manner. The office staff thanks you in advance for your help!
Health Room News
We are excited to have your child join us for elementary school this year. We look forward to a great year of working together. Please read below for some helpful tips for the coming school year:
- Our most important responsibility is student health and safety, and we require all of our students to be fully vaccinated per State law. Students who are not current on their immunizations will be allowed conditional entry on the first day of school. However, families are encouraged to provide updated shot records to the school as soon as possible, but no later than 30 days after the first day of school. Parents may either call the school office or stop by the school in person. Please visit the district website to ensure your child is up to date on all required immunizations.
- If your child needs to take medication during the school day (this includes prescription and over-the-counter medication), we require that you have the Monroe School District Authorization for Administration of Medication at School form filled out by a physician and signed by a parent prior to starting the medication. Go to our district website https://www.monroe.wednet.edu/staff-hub/departments/student-services/health-services to download the form or click on the link below. The medication needs to be transported to school by a parent and be in the original container. When possible, we recommend giving medication outside of school hours. We are honored to be your partner in your child's education so please let us know if you have any questions that we can help you answer. Please call our Health Room at (360) 804-3132 for assistance.
- We appreciate being notified when your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness. This allows us to monitor patterns of illness at school and increase efforts to control the spread. Let’s all work together to keep our children healthy!

The deadline for turning in the application for the 2019-2020 school year is Tuesday, October 15th. Students should bring lunch money to school or a lunch from home on the first day of classes. To see the breakfast and lunch options for the current month, please click on the button above.

2019-2020 PTA Membership
The two key goals of the CLE PTA are to build a strong community of families, teachers, staff and students and to provide financial support for programs not covered by the school or state budget. Joining the PTA is a great way to get learn about and get involved in the school, share ideas and meet other CLE families. There are also great volunteer opportunities (although not required!) Interested in joining? Complete the form and return to school with your student any time.

Monroe School District's Tip Reporting Service
Safety is our top priority. That is why we use SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting system that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration in four different ways:
Phone: 360-799-5419
Text: Text your tip to 360-799-5419
Email: 1003@alert1.us
And now 'there's an app for that!' Open the attachment below to learn more about the new app feature.
Anyone may easily report tips on bullying, harassment, drugs, vandalism or any safety issue of concern. Tips may be submitted anonymously, too. Thanks in advance for helping to keep our school community a safe place to work and learn! Together we do make a difference.
