Welcome to the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary & St Matthew
Formed in love, the grace of God animates us. His divine indwelling elevates our faith. We find the courage to witness to others through grace. If we fail to desire or find opportunities to share the Good News of Christ, we have entirely missed the point of what it means to be loved by Love itself.
Pope Francis Monthly Intention: Religious Sisters and Consecrated Women

Meet Juanita - our new youth worker for Edge and Lifeteen
"Kia Ora! Some of you might already know me, as I was in the Life Teen core team last year. My family and I have been going to the Cathedral for most of my life and it was my parents' dedication to serving the church that inspired me to do the same. Last year was my first year as a Life Teen leader, and the friendships, fun and many experiences of heaven on earth were more than enough to inspire me to apply for this role. 2021 was an amazing year for youth ministry at the Cathedral and it is my aim to continue the amazing programme that has been started, and give your children more opportunities to deepen their friendship with Jesus!
Caritas Lent Appeal 2022 envelopes are available from the foyer.

Kia ora. We wanted to share an update that Caritas Tonga has provided on the situation in Tonga. The impact of the eruption has been devastating but the people of Tonga have shown incredible resilience.
Earlier this week, we made contact with Caritas Tonga and we were relieved to hear that the team and all their families, friends, and loved ones are safe and well. The team have begun distributing the pre-positioned emergency supplies and are working with local communities to provide further supplies and support.
One of the biggest concerns at the moment is the volcanic ash and dust which has turned the country grey. This is a major concern because the ash affects drinking water, food crops, and respiratory health. Supplying fresh water and water-related emergency supplies, including hygiene kits, is one of the key priorities for Caritas Tonga at the moment.
Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand and Caritas Tonga have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by our supporters. Together, we have raised over $182,000 in the last ten days.
Mālō 'aupito! Thank you!
If you would still like to support Caritas Tonga, please donate to the Pacific Relief Fund online or via our bank account 03-0518-0211216-00 (please include first & last name and put Tonga as the code).
