What is AIDS?
- AIDS stands for acquired immune deficiency syndrome
- It compromises the body's ability to handle disease
- some symptoms include rapid weight loss, recurring fever, pneumonia, memory loss
What we can do to help
- PEPFAR "the president's emergency plan for AIDS relief" has given $18 billion to help fight the AIDS epidemic
- 9.7 million people are on antiretroviral treatment
- new HIV infections among kids have dropped by over 50% since their peak in 2002
