Who are the LEGENDS' teachers?

Mrs. Franklin will be teaching language arts and life education. This is her 8th year teaching. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She and her husband, Jeremy, have 3 children. Jack is 15, Drew is 13, and Josie is 9. They live in Parkville with their 2 dogs, one cat and a chinchilla. Mrs. Franklin enjoys traveling, golfing, and cheering on her children. She is looking forward to a great year!!!


Mrs. Vengley will be teaching social studies and life education. This is her 18th year teaching in Park Hill. Before Plaza, Mrs. Vengley taught both, 3rd and 4th grade at Line Creek and Hawthorn Elementary. Mrs. Vengley has lived in Kansas City her entire life and even attended Park Hill K-12. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. She and her husband, Josh, have two children, Jayden (11 years) and Saylor (9 years). Her pets include a puppy Morkie and 9 year old rescued English Bulldog. Mrs. Vengley enjoys being a mom, involved in church, and keeping busy with her kids’ sports and other activities.


Mrs. Netherton is our special services teacher. She has been teaching since 2001 when she graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a BS in Special Education. She has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels, all in the special education field. She also, has a Masters Degree from Mid-America Nazarene University in the area of Educational Technology. She and her husband, Ed, enjoy spoiling their baby girl, Hattie.


Mr. Nixon teaches science and life education. He has 20 years of teaching. Mr. Nixon received his Bachelor’s in Biology and Universal Science at Park. He has a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a Specialist degree in Administration. Mr. Nixon has 6 children, 5 grandchildren, enjoys camping, fishing and wood working. Mr. Nixon is also a leader in Boy Scout Troop 444. He has a few interesting pets too.


Mr. Wilson teaches math and life education. He brings eleven years of teaching experience in Park Hill to the team. Before Plaza, he taught 4th and 5th grade at Chinn Elementary. Mr. Wilson grew up in Liberty, Missouri, and attended Northwest Missouri State University where he earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Specialist degrees. He and his wife, Kristina “Special K” Wilson, have a eight year old son named Austin, a five and half year old son named Isaac, and a eleven year old dog named Boston. Mr. Wilson loves playing golf, watching movies, and being outside with his family.


Miss Lane will be teaching reading and life education. Miss Lane is a Park Hill High School graduate and this will be Miss Lane’s second year teaching. Miss Lane has enjoyed working as a substitute teacher in the Park Hill School District for the past three years and last year as a Teacher's Assistant at Plaza. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri and completed her student teaching in the Kansas City Missouri Public School District. Miss Lane enjoys hanging out at the pool with her family and neighbors, going to sporting events, traveling to new places, reading a good book at Starbucks and taking her dog, Lois Lane, to the dog park.

Check our your local library for lots of fun activities, events, and, of course, great books! Mid-Continent also has a summer reading program for teens where you can log your minutes and earn teen bucks. You can use teen bucks to purchase books, pay fines, or pay for other library services.
