If you do not have/need to update your physical to participate because we have a current one on file, please skip that step of the registration process. YOU MUCH COMPLETE STEP 6 before we are able to process your registration.

Culturally Responsive Parenting Seminar

Please join us for an introduction to cultural proficiency. Participants will be able to identify cultural proficiency and assess where they are on the continuum. Participants will also be able to identify barriers to it and ways to stand for equity.

Presented by Laura Gray, ICCSD Director of Diversity & Cultural Responsiveness

Depending on the number of participants, we will have break-out sessions for facilitated discussions.

Join Cadenza and UNICEF February 1st for United in the Cloud, a virtual fundraiser concert whose proceeds will all go to UNICEF to help children in need around the world. The videos of the performances will be posted on Cadenza's youtube channel, whose description can be seen below.


The West High TSA Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) will be meeting on Saturday January 23rd at 11:00 am via Zoom. The JETS team will be competing in the statewide TEAMS competition on Saturday February 27th. Students will compete in an all day event testing their STEM skills, working on a team of four students to solve problems. This year's theme is Engineering Solutions in a Pandemic. It's not too late to join our CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) and be placed on a team. There are two levels of competition - a 9th/10th grade division and a 11th/12th grade division. The West High TSA Cyber-Ops team will also be meeting on Saturday January 23rd at Noon via Zoom. West High students are currently preparing for the state TSA competition on April 12th and 13th. Students interested in computer programming, app development, game design, webmaster tasks, cybersecurity, robotics programming, CAD Engineering, data science and analytics, and debating technology issues are welcome to join. Introducing the Guided Pathway Support Program-A RON BROWN SCHOLAR PROGRAM INITIATIVE

GPS uses a “high-tech and high-touch” advising and information sharing model to empower African American high school juniors, seniors, their parents and counselors during the college preparation and selection process. It guides students along these journeys via tele-mentoring, leadership conferences, and exposure to successful peers on the GPS Workplace by Facebook platform.

Make sure to regularly check the Scholarships web page. The list of scholarships is updated frequently and includes opportunities for students from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. Many are for seniors, but there are some great opportunities for sophomores and juniors as well.

The West Parent Student Teacher Organization meets via Webex (similar to Zoom) on the first Wednesdays at 12:00pm-1:00pm, all are welcome. Please write us at our new email address if you want the link to attend the meetings or have suggestions. West High PSTO also has a group page on Facebook, and the Facebook posts are also on our website at Our website has information on how to make donations by checks made out to the West PSTO which can be dropped off at the main office or mailed to the PSTO c/o West High, 2901 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City, IA 52246. We are currently raising funds for meals for teachers on conference nights and scholarships for students to attend post season sports events.
