Principal's Corner
April 19 - April 23
Families,
Remember to be checking in on students' grades early on in the quarter. A good start can alleviate a lot of headaches as the quarter ends! You can always check on grades and attendance in PowerSchool. We will continue to give phone calls to families if students are supposed to be in-person but are at home and online early in the day.
Thank you for monitoring your student's health and keeping them home if they are displaying any primary COVID symptoms. That and making sure that, as a family, you are following all safety recommendations laid out by the county, will help us bring students back to school every day. We're all in it together!
With the start of a new semester comes a clean slate! All students start back at "square one" and have the opportunity to earn the grades - and finish the year - in a very positive way. Please encourage your student to get off on the right start to this quarter and end the school year well! Report cards will be sent out to home addresses this week.
We continue on with Spirit Weeks this week. Monday/Tuesday are "Self-Care Days" where students dress comfy - school appropriate of course. And Thursday/Friday will be "Dress for your Future Days!"
Congratulations to our students and families for making our PTSA Spring Fundraiser a successful event. Without a kick-off assembly ceremony or much marketing, our school raised nearly $7,000 - and that's without including the cash and checks turned in! The very last turn-in days for cash and checks will be Monday and Tuesday this week!
On Wednesday this week at 11 a.m. (after Advisory & Office Hours), your student will be invited to share their perspective in how we are doing as a school in meeting their needs. As a school, we welcome ALL students and families and aim to make South Middle School a place where students are accepted - no matter what - as we help guide them into the young people they were created to be. With recent events happening, we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can in meeting their needs as a school!
Grace and Peace,
Mr. Sale
SPIRIT WEEK!!!
Family Character Dare - THE HOME GAMES
Set up a five (5) event tournament that involves some silly games and some clean up games to make tidying up fun.
Look up some "minute to win it" type games and combine them with some household chores. For example, see who can fold and put away 10 pieces of clothes the fastest and then see who can use a clothes hanger as a gold club to hit some balled up socks the farthest. Winner gets the grand prize...whatever you want it to be!
